    Proraso PS Red
    Drake 2 Band Badger
    Fine Fresh Vetiver SS
    Proraso SC White*
    Ralf Aust 6/8 Horn Scales
    Fine Fresh Vetiver AS

So.....rough shave this morning. Either I don't know how to lather Fine SS, or the Ralf Aust is dull, or both. I hardly ever complain about lather....but today is it. Loaded the Drake for ~20 seconds off the puck. Noticed immediately it was loading, but barely 'lathering' (as opposed to almost every other SS or SC I own, which starts loading....then lather bursting at 5-10 second mark while continuing loading). Transferred to my shave bowl, and whipped for a minute or more....adding a little water, mixing, going back to the puck, you name it. Always seemed a bit 'thin', even on the face. Layered over Proraso PS Red for the 1st AND 2nd pass.....the shave was skippy, tuggy, felt even STICKY as the blade landed and scraped (almost irritable). Maybe Fine SS and Proraso PS aren't compatible. Gave up.....so for the 3rd pass*, I pulled out a tube of Proraso White, hand smeared it. Did a XTG all over, and I'll label today's shave as the most frustrating DFS to date. No weepers or issues.

FWIW, the Aust did do it's 100 laps this morning on the strop. However, today short on time....I didn't test for arm hair shave pinging that gssixgun likes to show in the videos I've watched. Tomorrow....I'm going to repeat this shave with a different SS or SC. No change in any other process/product to see if there's a better result. Maybe the Aust needs a refresher on the 12k stone....but it's only the 3rd shave with it, and the first 2 were great, and the 3rd pass today worked, so I'm leaning towards the SS or my methodology with it's first time use.

The Fine Fresh Vetiver AS had minimal feedback......you guys have enabled :eatdrink047: another top 10 fragrance of mine (and more importantly, wifey).

Still, NOT a bad end result overall....there was no spillage of crimson, no major irritation spots, and definitely no straight razor oopsies that leaves scars. Tomorrow can only be better. :git:

    Have a Wonderful Wednesday everyone!

Great photo Blair. Sorry about the rough shave. Fine Fresh Vetiver is a wonderful scent and one of my favorites. In fact I bought the Guerlain Vetiver Edt.

Pick two razors that have the least geometry problems, i.e. they lie flat on the hone. Also even better if they are a newer razor that does not have a lot of hone wear. Focus on those razors for honing and leave the tricky razors to the pros. You Sunday Shaver is an ideal candidate. My easiest to hone razors are my Dovo Bismark and Master's. It is easier for me to hone a half or full hollow razor with a thumb notch than any other razor. Don't give up!

I remember well a move my Dad pulled while going in for a dentist appointment(long before his dementia, so he was alive, well, and sharp). He showed up late for his appointment and the receptionist told him he was late, and apparently wasn't professional in telling him. Dad came right back with "Would you have been ready for me if I was on time?". She didn't like THAT either, but tough on her.

So that goes against my instincts, which are to NOT screw up my professionally honed razors, such as my Sunday Shaver. Gotta rethink this for sure.

Nice shave Joe. Love my L1 Slim. Same feelings....my FB is going on BST soon, and shaving hardware purchases will be various straights that catch my eye!

Hope the Doctor visit is uneventful! And....another incredible image. Love the work with the reflection.

Love your shave reports Joseph. A good read every day! Some mirrored thoughts all the time with straight shaving, but definitely on honing....do it myself? Send to gssixgun? He actually has my Henkels for a hone and re-scale right now...can't wait. Want to do my 'best' hone job on one of my straights, then compare back to back with the Henkels Glen sends back.

    06/12/2019 - Shave #6 for June

RazoRock 400 Noir Plissoft Synthetic Shaving Brush
Salsa Bowl / Timeless Lather Bowl Scuttle
    Fine Accoutrements – Snake Bite
    Astra SP
Gillette Super Speed / No Notch
Univinlions (Kai Clone) with Feather Pro Blade
    Nivea Post Balm
    Aqua Velva – Ice Blue

Believe it or not Aqua Velva Ice Blue beat Stirling's Sharp Dress Man in a smell off.......more on that later.

The no notched Super Speed provided a nice shave this this morning with no weepers or nicks.

The Univinlions completed two passes on the cheeks and under the bottom lip.

Alum was quiet this morning. Finished up with some Nivea post balm and Aqua Velva Ice Blue. Why the Ice Blue? My granddaughter is over today and was in the bathroom watching me shave. I told her I would let her pick out the after shave and she agreed. We went through all of the Clubmans.....no go, Stirling Noir.....no go, Stirling Sharp Dress Man got a thumbs up. I said hang on we got one more and it was the Aqua Velva and she said that is it. So y'all know what I am wearing today. SDM beat out my Aqua Velva......what is this world coming to?

We were going to the water park today but that got shifted to tomorrow.

Beautiful day in the Heart of Dixie. Y’all have a great hump day!

**I just noticed an ant on the Univinlions handle in the picture....anyone else see it?**
