June 3rd Razor: Razorock Wunderbar Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (1) Brush: PAA Green Ray Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated Soap: Stirling Lemony Orange Stirling Orange Chill witch hazel PAA Unscented Star Jelly AS: Stirling Lemony Orange Menthol Monday! Good morning! Nice face freezing shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. I did end with a couple of weepers on my right jaw line and some extra warmth from the alum. I don't know what it is with me and these Bic blades. I received two of them in a sample pack some time back. The first one I used left my face so raw I had to skip shaving for a couple of days. This one didn't feel much better. I think I got a couple of duds. Swap for a different blade tomorrow. Have a great week! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Sorry to hear about your grandmother. Condolences to you and your family. The happy note, nice scuttle. tp
Thanks, Clint! I have a Tupperware container that I keep blade tucks in, bulk storage elsewhere. There are some random blades from various sample packs in there. My plan is to start using those up to clean up my container. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
June 3, 2019 Supply Co SE V2 Schick Proline Wild West Brushworks with Tuxedo A&E Frozen Mojitos Fine Italian Citrus Another weekend that was entirely too short. The WWB with its 30mm Tuxedo knot ate through the A&E Frozen Mojitos whipping up a mountain of rich slick lather. I can notice the menthol on the third pass but otherwise I only notice the wonderful scent of the soap. Three passes and touch ups just missed the baby. A splash of Fine Italian Citrus and I think I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Monday.
June 3rd Proraso PS Red GFT Sandalwood SC Zenith Boar Feather AC DX (kamisori style) Kai Captain Titan ProTouch GFT Sandalwood Skin Food Uneventful 2.5 pass wifey declared BBS shave this morning. I'll rate as a solid DFS+. While the confidence with the Kamisori style setup is no longer trepidation....I still think there's some room to further my technique. On the lower right neck, and some of the niggly areas (nostrils, corners of the mouth) a DE handle can just be mindless...but open blades demand focus. The Kai ProTouch blade, while smooth, needs more 'pressure' compared to it's counterpart the Feather Pro Guard. GFT Sandalwood SC....excellent aroma, extremely wet straight out of the container. Overloaded the Zenith, and started off with too much water... Oops. Took a good minute or more of lather abuse to get it in line, finally resulting in a nice shiny cushion of lather slickness (not quite Castle and Forbes slick, but a close second). GFT Skin Food...other artisans should plagiarize their base formula IMO. It's close to a balm, excellent skin feel, but completely without the gooey sticky 'takes 5 minutes to rub it in' sensation of a bad sun screen/lotion. Happy Monday everyone!
@wchnu Safe travels, hope happy memories prevail today. My condolences. Of course wishing you a Fabulous Birthday. While the number of birthdays past might reveal age, it's but a narrow window defining one's true character. You are only old.....once you think you are.
This morning's shave was a bit of a struggle. I mishandled the AgadirMen Invisible Shave Gel, as it wouldn't come out until I took the top off(it has the appearance of a liquid hand soap where you "squirt" it on. It was only after too much gel poured out that it worked normally again for me. After managing to get through the shave, I immediately said to the gel "Nice knowin' ya baby". I did keep the aftershave though. I think it was the gel that came free when I put in my order. If so, that was a smart decision by them-the aftershave is much more enjoyable. Hopefully someday AgadirMen will produce a shave soap-that way you can SEE what you're shaving with, and no "squirting" and cap-twisting required.
June Focus Old Spice~~Simpson KH4~~Dovo 6/8~~Old Spice Burley SR #99 I have been neglecting my vintage Old Spice products. Remedied. The soap still has a wonderful scent; loads fairly easily, although I find the OS mugs on the narrow side. Today was a first run with the Keyhole. NOS and it released a few hairs. I won't panic yet, as new brushes are likely to lose a few bristles at first. It is, however, unusual in that my Simpsons are not shedders. Fingers crossed. Nice, slick lather provided a good base for the Dovo. Decided to do a bit of ATG on the cheeks and chin. It baffles me that I can get a BBS everywhere except on certain parts of my neck. There's just so many passes I am willing to make, as I have become attached to my skin. Results were typical; BBS on the cheeks, chin and most of the jawline. DFS everywhere else. Good enough for government work. OS Burley is my favorite of the Shulton scents after the original.
