When you first converted back to traditional wet shaves....did you ever think you'd type that sentence?

    Open blades are fun.

I'm in. I am going to be trying out some vintage "basic" razors -- I just discovered a box under my sink full of missing razors: three cased Gillette Old Types, a cased gold Tech, a Pre-War Tech in a donor case, a Travel Tech in its vinyl snapcase, a modern Merkur four-piece travel razor, a Hoffritz Slant, a Schick model C, and THIRTEEN inter-war German travel razors in those little metal vestpocket cases. I thought I had tested all my vintage DE razors, but it seems I have another month's worth to try out...

For soaps, I will continue using neglected creams.

This razor was supposed to be used to close out Mayhem but I woke up to late and this is a razor that should not be used in a rushed shave. I call it my vampire razor because the spike point and heal have drawn a lot of blood.

Since it is Saturday I broke out the Castle Forbes and this monstrous Simpson Polo 12, it is the biggest and heaviest shaving brush I own. The Vampire did not draw any blood today, she has a lot of shaves since the last time she saw a stone so it feels like it is time for a refresh.

This month I am going to make a decision on some of the new soaps I added to the den. I will decided if they make permanent cut and get stay in my den along with the proven winners like Castle Forbes, Tabac and AoS Tallow (the cream too).

    Irritation A+ Closeness A Smoothness A+ Sharpness A

    Razor: Robert Williams Purist
    Strop: Herold Russian leather
    Brush: EDBIO Simpson Polo 12
    Pre: Proraso
    Soap: Castle Forbes
AS: Enhanced Florida Water AS, Stirling ASB
    Scent: Dior Cologne Royal

    SOTD:
After 15 shaves and close to a month of using the same razor, i decided to start afresh.
A different razor and a brand new blade was the perfect way to start a new month off!

A fantastic shave from the Wilkinson sword TTO, paired with a personna lab blue.

The proraso sapone still definitely lacks slickness so i wont be changing the review, but it is definitely much more manageable with the Wilkinson sword TTO which is far less agressive than my fatip piccolo. The menthol affect on the proraso is fantastic, and the best way to end off a menthol shave is with even more menthol, that prep is absolutely fantastic as an aftershave balm, my review on that will be posted shortly.

Overall a perfectly BBS shave after 3 passes.

    Razor: Wilkinson sword TTO
    Blade: personna lab blue (1)
Brush: Wilkinson sword classic shave premium
    Soap: proraso sapone
    Aftershave Balm: prep balm[IMG]

    This proving my point. I don’t think I have a single setup as fancypants as Keith’s first “basic” setup. :smiley respect::smiley respect::smiley respect::smiley respect::smiley respect::smiley respect::smiley respect::smiley respect:
In other news, I have joined a 5 step program for my soap addiction.

    Good morning guys!
Just finished my Dovo shavette shave #75! I am now 3/4 of the way home of being a 100/100 man with 75 shavette and 75 traditional SR shaves.
I decided to use the same setup as shavette shave #74 because I thoroughly enjoy the Satsuma scent.
My normal 2 pass with touchups produced an excellent BBS shave with no irritation, but one very miniscule weeper. Really, it was so tiny that it was laughable, but in the interest of honesty, nevertheless, I reported it.
I enjoyed this shave very much. I also headshaved with my '68 Slim and it was a super smooth shave as well.
    Result Head shave Grade: N/A
Face and Neck Shave Grade: 97 = A+
Now, for the rest of the month, I will pick razor selection out of a hat for the rest of the month.
    Have a great day guys! 20190530_213056.jpg 20190530_213056.jpg
