I have read dozens of threads on what brush to buy and the best value for the money, and it only seemed logical to go with Larry and the High Mountain Badger. I don't know how he can sell a 24mm brush with a handle for $28. I almost paid twice as much for something that may be of lower quality. I was about to buy a "best" badger for $70. Larry is a great guy to work with and responds via email very quickly. I can hardly wait to see how it differs from my beginners Van Der Hagen brush.
You would be surprised how affordable the knots can be when you order direct from china. The hard part is having the patience to wait about a month for delivery. I'm sure it helps when you place a bulk order as well. I'm curious to hear your impressions of the HMW brush when it breaks in. Hope it turns out great for you.
Unbelievable! I sent my payment to Larry at 3pm and less than three hour later I got an email from him that my brush has shipped. What a guy!
Please post up your thoughts after you've used the brush. Larry does provide great customer service. Clint
I asked Larry for a comparisom between the HMB and tbe Silvertip and this is what he wrote: "Hi Jim: Welcome to Whipped Dog, so glad you checked us out! I think the high mountain is almost as soft as a silvertip, but has slightly more body. It is a good face lathering knot, and doesn't require sinking deeper into the handle to face lather well like silvertips."
Sound great and really looks like a great deal. Looking forward to hearing how it is. Might have to put one of these on my (ever-growing) list...
It is here. This is a photo right out of the package. I have not had a chance to use it yet, but it looks beautiful.
Oooo....Very Nice! I can't wait to see the post bloom pics. Looks like my empty handle will be getting one of these knots soon. Thanks for the update.
