Thanks guys. I''m pretty stoked. I passed on one about a month ago that went for 35 buy it now. Glad I waited. I'm still curious about the 'case' since there was no picture of one.
So I got it this afternoon. It is in great condition. I'd say darn near flawless. However there was no case in less seller meant the cardboard box he shipped it in. Since I got it at such a great deal I'm not real concerned about the case. I'm really happy with it.
It's pretty hard to find a datable '49. I had one, a 1949 NOS Gillette Milord Christmas gift set. Only one I've ever seen. I traded it to iamthejody, who owned a 1948 Christmas set. He eventually downsized his collection and sold both to another collector. If I remember correctly the Gillette Milords were made in 47, 48, and 49 without date codes, so snag one of them and call it good. In 1950? the design changed slightly.
