Kamisori - Restore Fun

This is on the bench right now as a WIP
What do you think is going on here in the first two pics as I received it

Looks like Primo was honing it.

 

ReRegrind

First passes on the 2x72 you can see how far off it was more clearly



Here you can see the grind getting closer



Taking it up to a higher grit and the grind coming together



Here with a piece of tape over the ReRegrind you can really see how even it is




Next come the honing fun

 

Sorry for the blurry pic but you can see that the Heel is still "Off" even after grinding



Here I used a Dremel and a sanding wheel to recontour the heel section, Sharpie test shows the bevel coming in now



Just more time on the hone to bring the bevel fully in line

 

Fantastic work, Glen. That seems like a labor-intensive project.

 

Regrinds are actually always hard to get right, especially on a Kamisori..

I had to go back to the grinder a second time to draw it all together

OMG, how could some one do that to an Iwasaki? I'm sure you will bring her back to life.
