I just got done watch 13 Rue Madeleine 1947, James Cagney, Richard Conte, Annabella, Red Buttons (Second Jump Master uncredited) Karl Malden (Jump Master uncredited) EG Marshal (Uncredited)
NO I just like Cagney Movies. I got a bunch of Humphrey Bogart Movies also, I will watch a bunch soon. My Dad really liked Cagney Movies Mr. Roberts, and The Gallant Hours he really enjoyed, The week he died he watched Mr. Roberts on the VCR and that was one of the last times I heard him Laugh. I should say the day he watched it it was the last Time we (the family) heard him laugh. When it gets to where he is in the Captains cabin (Mr. Roberts) and they call for the Doctor, and the Crew are all bowing to the empty Palm Tree Can, I have to shut it off. I can't watch it. So it gets put away for another year.
I saw that movie and yes I have agree with you glad I din't pay to go see it. It was on TV when I saw.
Now I can't say I'm a big Virginia Mayo nor Edmond O'Brien fan, so I wasn't really interested in this movie for years. Huge mistake on my part! Cagney's performance in the chow hall is incredible, and darn near makes the movie by itself.
And last night I finished watching the 2010 remake of True Grit. While the story itself is rather pedestrian, the performances by Jeff Bridges and the young girl were fantastic! Matt Damon, on the other hand, was rather forgettable.
You should read the book too. Both movies took a lot of liberties with the book, but the Jeff Bridges version was a little truer.
You have great taste in films although I am still waiting to see Dan Jon. I am a big fan of City of God, the creepy bit is at the end where you see documantary footage of the characters from the film saying the exact same diolouge as was in the film, and suddenly you realise that all these crazy events that took place in this film, really did happen, Scary stuff. However, I would love an explination about the Karate Kid . If it was the version from the eighties which has been a favourite of mine since I first saw it as a young teen, then great. But if we are talking that remake with jaden Smith, then No. Just. No. I mean they don't even do Karate in that film!! It is just wrong wrong, wrong. As you might be able to tell that remake is a pet hate of mine. That aside, you have great taste in films.
Just watched The Wanderers again. It is a shame we don't have a head shavers group as I thought "The Baldies" would be a great name for them.
Oh god no. The Jaden Smith version is horrible. I've loved the Karate Kid with Daniel San ever since my dad introduced it to me when I was a kid. We sat down and watched all three movies in the series. I watch all types of movies. I need to read more though.
Recently watched The Cheap Detective. Good movie similar in vein with Murder by Death which is one of my favorites.
I'm watching Tomorrow, When the War Began on Netflix. It's about Aussie teens who fight back when China or N. Korea invades. Think of it as an Australian version of Red Dawn. I think it comes from a book series. Actually a pretty good movie, and I kind of hope they make more as it's kind of set up that way.
