Watched Expendables 3 on the plane last night into this morning on the second leg back home. Pretty cheesy with bad acting, bad dialogue and an over used plot. Not a terrible way to kill 2 of 9 hours in the air though.
Not quite the last movie I watched, but it will be in 2 hours. I just saw "The Man Who Would Be King" is on TCM
The Hustler Pretty good movie. I enjoyed Paul Newman's performance but would have liked to have seen Jackie Gleeson's character have a larger part in the movie.
Watched this about Moses in Egypt. Loved the first 30 minutes, amazing effects and the movie just looks fantastic - but the remaining 2/3 of the movie felt a bit chopped up and later I read that it was originally planned to be 4 hour movie and got cut down to 2.5 hours which makes sense. Still, a worthy watch and some most excellent acting in it. Trailer:
Loved that one. Last weekend we saw 'Boxtrolls'. I liked it a lot! Yesterday we saw 'The Terminal' with Tom Hanks. Sort of 'Cast Away' but the other way round. Trying to survive and leave an airport in stead of an unhibited island. Entertaining movie.
Yeah Boxtrolls was awesome. A lot less creep factor than the other Laika movies, so the little one enjoyed it a bunch. Haven't let her watch Coraline or Paranorman just yet. She couldn't get through the first 5 minutes of Nightmare Before Christmas without being freaked out, so it'll be a while. Watched Dawn of the Planet of the Apes this past weekend, I enjoyed it. Like most things that Gary Oldman is in.
I went retro and watched two moves back to back. for a few dollars more 1965 followed by el dorado 1966. SWMBO was completely bored but hey, she knew I really wanted to watch them. I am now watching Columbo etude in black whilst getting ready to fall asleep
Wich one? The Terminal or Cast Away? Or both? I liked The Green Mile, Forrest Gump, Saving Mister Banks and Philadelphia as well. If The Nightmare Before Christmas is too much for her I think Coraline will be too. I haven't seen Paranorman yet, so I can't say anything on that one. As for Coraline: the film is based on a book. Maybe it is an idea to read the book together first? Although I don't know how much the film script differs from the book. And yes, Gary Oldman is a great actor. I love him as well!
Yeah it'll be a while before she gets to Coraline. I'm a huge Neil Gaiman fan, which is what drew me to it in the first place. I hadn't thought about the book though, that's a good idea, she's an avid reader. I'll have to give it a look at the book store and see if it's close enough. Paranorman has some intense scenes for little ones at the end, great story, just too much for the runts. And then Zombies, ghosts, jump scares, etc throughout the rest of the movie. The time and expertise that goes into making those films is just mind blowing. His character in Leon has stuck with me ever since I saw it. Just unhinged and psycho, amazing
I have read several of Neil Gayman's books. Anansi Boys, Graveyard Book, Neverwhere, The Ocean At The End Of The Lane and American Gods. Next will be Good Omens (co-wrinting with Terry Prastchett). Great writer. I saw the films of Coraline and Stardust. great films. And yeah, Gary is great in Leon. I liked him a lot in Bram Stoker's Dracula as well. He is a solid performer!
