Since I've had some down time. Winter on fire: Ukraine's fight for freedom. This documentary is fantastic! A must see. Mission Impossible Rogue Nation. I liked it a lot! Tom Cruise at his best!
Tomorrowland. A nice "soft sci-fi" targeting a younger audience. Good acting and visuals. I found it to drag on a bit but if you're 12 you'll probably like it more.
Just saw the Good Dinosaur yesterday with my grandson. The animation for these movies become more and more realistic with every release. Even so, I still think the animation for Johnny Quest was way ahead of it's time.
Watched "No Escape". This movie was a complete surprise as I had some hesitations watching an action/thriller with Owen Wilson but, man, this movie kept you at the edge of your seat! Pierce Brosnan was excellent. I'd say it's a 7.5/10. Great action and thrill throughout!
Not a movie but a series. Have been watching Mr Selfridge on Netflix. Easy watching first season was good. Second ok. Wife loves it. I like period shows set in a different time and era. Tired of murder or zombie type shows. This is refreshing and easy watching before bed.
Last nights viewings were: Night Train to Terror - Really awful 80s horror movie. Phase IV - Pretty boring movie about ants beginning their take over of the world. Today's viewings: Being There - I was fairly disappointed. I was expecting a much better movie. Peter Sellers' character being viewed as an intellectual prophet of some sort was very unrealistic. Cape Fear - Robert Mitchum was great as a creepy character though I think his character in The Night of the Hunter was a tad more evil and creepy. I can see why this movie was controversial when it came out.
It won a golden Globe but in the Comedy/Musical section. There were a couple of funny one liners but is it really a comedy?
I'd say there is a rather upbeat 'tone' throughout the movie. Maybe even more so in the book but it's not a dark/gloomy thriller for sure.
The Last Witch Hunter w/ Vin Diesel First third of the movie was rather good and had me entertained. Second third it just dragged a five minute plot into 30 minutes Last third I wanted to just fast-forward to the end. A 5.5/10 for me.
Was it "On the Waterfront"? Certainly not, but as mindless disaster films go, I thought it was fun. Plus it looks great on my 73" Mitsubishi TV.
