The first time I saw that movie was in a sleazy hotel outside of New Orleans eating a shrimp po boy that the wife and I risked our lives getting in the middle of the night on foot. We walked past a totally destroyed old hotel that was a pile of rubble. As we were walking by, this dude came climbing out of the rubble yelling at us to give him some money. We booked it out of there to end up walking the rest of the way in shin high grass and weeds. All I could think of was getting bitten by a snake and dying on the side of the road in some scuzzy part of town in the middle of the night. Pretty good po boy though. Prometheus. It sucked the first time and didn't get any better on the second viewing. I don't know why people try and defend this movie. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
So many good books that could be movies, then there's the "adaptations" that just loose the point of the book. I'd like to see Heinlein's "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress", but not if Paul Verhoeven directs. Uprising, much? Being part of the Aliens / Sigourney Weaver universe, I'm hoping they do the followup well. Annunaki?
I loved "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress"(Well, I loved most everything by RAH), but I don't think they could do it justice as a movie. It would have to be like a miniseries I'm thinkin'.
I didnt mind Starship Troopers. Yeah it was completely different but I thought it had its own thing. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I really disliked Starship Troopers because I had read the book. The director, on the other hand, decided that he didn't need to read the book because it was "his" movie.
I too was disappointed in the movie. But that's Hollywood. They are more interested in "art" than entertainment. Think about how cool "Troopers" would have been if they had even adhered even halfway to the book. Too bad
I had read the book too still didn't ruin my enjoyment. And truthfully you probably couldn't do cool convincing Marauder suits back then. The animated series tried to incorporate more of the book, or some of it anyway. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
i saw Kong last night. I enjoyed it though some of it was predictable. It will be interesting to see where they go from here.
Just got back from Cinebistro in Tampa, watched The Shack. This is one time that I can say the movie was better than the book. Wowsers!
Room 237 This film documents the various conspiracy theories about the intent of The Shining. Wow what a bunch of whack jobs. Some of those people need to get their eyes checked cause they are seeing things that are not there at all. The whole section claiming Kubrick helped fake moon landing started getting crazy. The part where they showed The Shining being projected over top of its self playing normally and backwards was kind of interesting and had some cool visuals. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
THE NIGHT PORTER A 1974 film starring Dirk Bogarde and Charlotte Rampling. Just 118 minutes of dreadful!
