He watched the video that was linked to in the first page of this thread and said "it helped a lot." I imagine it would help you as well.
More product and a drier brush to start with. I blow through cream pretty fast to get the lather I really like so I primarily use soaps now. The wheat cream is good stuff, but I was being stingy with it and my lather suffered because of it.
Yup, I had already watched the video but hadn't had my "ah - HA!" Moment yet so I figured I'd see what his was since his photos showed the same basic problem I've been having sporadically.
I agree! I tried loading the brush directly from the tub for the first time this AM and loved it! I had thought about doing it before, but always quickly convinced myself that it wouldn't work well for some reason. I started with a much drier brush than I would normally and loaded it up with some Iced Crystal Blue cream and went to my bowl. A couple of dips back in the sink to enwettenate (feel free to use that one when explaining things to other noobs in the future if you'd like!) the brush and cream and I had myself a nice thick, creamy lather that lasted for 3 passes plus touchups without a problem! Excellent advice, thanks!
This stuff is just amazing. Definitely load brush from the tub as it makes a HUGE difference on how fast a lather builds up. This was only after a minute or so.
I know I'm a little late to the party, but since I've finally been using this for a month+ now I'll share my thoughts. I find TSD wheat to be just like the softer end of Italian soft soaps (ISS) in terms of thickness and how to lather. I definitely load right in the contianer, though it's just thin enough you could scoop out a dallop if desired. In terms of performance, I like it better than the Italian soaps. It's very slick like an ISS, but has better protection IMHO. Skin care is different and in my case slight better with TSD, but ISS is good skin care and this will likely vary person to person. The last thing to say is I really like getting something similar to an ISS with scent options that aren't almond.
I think my razor buddies are sick of me talking about how much I love both the soap and the cream. I just got done with my evening shave. The best part, the cream. I do not know what I may ever do if JoAnna ever stops making it. Crazy. I know right? What is crazier is that I keep wondering if it can it be made into 5 gallon tubs.
I trust the recipe is with a lawyer, with instructions to post it on the forum should anything unfortunate occur.
I have used it my past 2 shaves since I got it and I haven't had a problem making it explode lather. I face lather mostly as of late and I just load it from the tub dip the tip in warm water and lather as normal and just the softest, creamiest moisture rich lather I have had yet. It's definitely my New go to.
It won't be long now until I finally kneel before the Queen of Blades and beg her to take my money. And I would like to be present when Arley is dubbed Sir Azarius, Lord of TSD Marketing, Defender of the Superlative Shave. I haven't even tried the stuff, and I'm already drafting the blueprints to build a pipeline between here and JoAnna's house for distribution efficiency...
That made me laugh out loud for real. I never stop talking about this stuff, even to strangers. This is a true story, so sad, yet funny... I talk to the clerks at every store I go to. So often you see people on the phone or just being rude to clerks, like they are not human. I was raised to be polite and friendly, epecially to clerks, sales people, attendants, everybody. At my local stores the regulars all know too well that I am a wet shaver. The other day I had a new clerk at the CVS, the kid was maybe 20. He first saw he blades and went "nice, my grandfather still uses these." I seen an opportunity to talk shaving. Yay me!!! I start talking about why I was buying carbon single edge blades, JoAnna's cream, how JoAnna's avatar is the Docor's wife, who in turn is actually the TARDIS, then back about the TSD Cream and how he needs to try it and his grandfathers SE, yada, yada, yada. I am convinced he found me to be a madman, although we may have a new lurker.
Same here, I'll ditch a rude person straight away but if someone is nice I'll go above and beyond even if they are only buying 30cents worth of merchandise. Remember that being polite to people and not assuming they are slaves to do your bidding goes an awful long ways.
