We had our spring luncheon a couple of days ago. During the luncheon, the new officers were installed (I should have brought my power tools.). After the installation ceremony, a couple of us had gifts for them.. The wristbands were well-received.
I recently upgraded from my 7th gen iPad, to a 10th gen. The sizes aren't quite the same, so it doesn't fit into the sleeve I had made for the older one. To clarify, I have a keyboard case for it. The sleeve is to put the whole thing (case & all) into when I am taking it some place, such as on a trip/ in my luggage. So I started the new sleeve yesterday. Leather is cut & stamped. Today I punched a couple of holes for snaps & then dyed it magenta. Once the dye sets, I will give it a coat of acrylic sealer. Next steps will be to put in the snaps, glue down the sides & finally sew it. Pics when it's done.
A local (and beloved) Quilt Guild makes baby quilts for the hospital where we volunteer. Each one is unique, made of material with cartoon characters, and has different patterns on the inside and outside. We have delivered well over 125 of them to the NICU in the last couple of months. These wonderful, talented, and generous ladies have my sincere respect. What a fantastic ministry! https://nimblethimbles.com/
I have a family Bible that needs to be rebound. I enjoy following this pastor who reviews different rebinders. The various leathers and stitching they use and the quality of their work is remarkable.
Here's another leather craftsman that does some amazing restoration work. I've been watching his videos for the past couple of years. Feels kinda like you're in the shop with him. He took a coffee break in this video, so I had one too. Sometimes he smokes a water pipe with his coffee, but I stick to smoked meats.
I made a leather grip for my cast iron frying pan some time ago. (Pic is somewhere in this thread.) It's gotten a bit scorched so it was time to replace it. I made a new one yesterday. Here is a side-by-side comparison. I trust you will know which is the new one.
I use to carry one like this all though my years in college. A Swiss military messager / document bag ..... not leather but wore like iron. Wish I still had it.
I carry a battery pack with me, for recharging my iPhone, Apple Watch, etc when out of the house. Along with it, I also need a couple of connector cables. So I did a quick little project yesterday. I made a simple pouch out of pink chrome-tanned leather;
Today, I made a quick repair. My leather eyeglass case (normally carried in my handbag) lost a rivet. Fortunately, I always have rivets in the house (yes, I really said that) so I got out the snap pliers & replaced it.
