Mmmm. Nothing like a good crunchy BLT! That tomato looks like it's a good garden fresh one too. I'm a tomato fiend. I eat them like most people eat apples - just right out of my hand, around the core. Drool.
When I was kid, we went to Greece for the summer to visit relatives and I got hooked on tomatoes from the garden and eating them with fresh baked bread. And usually along with some Feta cheese.
Sound like a great experience! Coming from a family of eight and having a farm ..... It was a lot to get most of us away to the lake camping or traveling the US; but we knew how to make some killer sandwiches, even if it was just hot Grandma Brown's baked beans between bread Mmmmmmmm! Homemade bread even better!
When things were a little tight, I recall Velveeta on Wonder bread with Miracle Whip. My stomach now turns just thinking about it. Not with a gun to my head. Same with cinnamon sugared toast, which my older sister hooked me on.
If you like BLTs, you have to try them with basil pesto instead of mayo. To die for. Lettuce optional with pesto.
Is this in Tuscaloosa? We live a little to the west of Birmingham, and sometimes drive to Tuscaloosa to eat, especially at DePalma’s.
Love a good Reuben! Has to be Thousand Island dressing for me, I have seen them served with Russian. Have to say I prefer rye to sourdough for this sandwich.
A guilty pleasure that I enjoy, but most others think is weird and/or gross: I love a good peanut butter with bologna sandwich. I prefer whipped peanut butter but recently both Jif and Peter Pan have discontinued their whipped peanut butters so regular creamy peanut butter will do in a craving pinch.
I’m sorry, I thought I saw something about T Town at some point in time related to one of your posts, and Tuscaloosa is often called T Town. I guess Tacoma is also called T Town!
