newb here but I've been experimenting a bit. What I found gives me best results is to use a drier brush and then soak the tip of my brush in water as needed (once I'm building the lather on my face).
A good hot soak and a few flicks to drop some water and then into the soap dish. I don't usually have to add any water.
I soak my brush while showering then proceed to flick about 2/3 of the water out of it before swirling it in some TOBS Eton College cream and lathering in a bowl. I don't ever need to add more water, and I get nice thick lubricating lather.
This is intersting. Since I have only just begun, I enjoy seeing (rather reading) the different techniques. I have had the best luck so far by soaking my brush in a cup while I shower, pull it out and do one light shake, then go straight to the soap, then the face. Can't wait for the new brush to get here to see how much better it will work
I soak the brush and then slightly shake the brush (Muhle HJM badger hair brush, quite voluminous brush btw) and almost always I have to add a few drops of water because initial lather seems too thick, too dry...maybe I should apply smaller dosage of soap / cream....
From a VDH to a Semogue boar. Still is not here yet! It has been 12 days so far, since I placed my order.
