Just picked this up yesterday on clearance. My first citizen and i like it alot. Hopefully i got a good deal lol. First titanium watch as well
Anyone out there collect old Rolex watches. I have an old Rolex watch that was owned by my grandfather. It is the same model James Bond used (Rolex Submariner 6538.....aka the bond submariner).
It's addicting. Problem is finding someone reputable to restore them. My Bond submariner needs some TLC but no one will work on it around here. Need to send it off which I am very nervous about. Also have a 1978 Daytona 6265 and a 1972 Sea Dweller 1665.
Well the Bond submariner was given to me by my grandfather. That is my pride and joy. I need a band for it which is very expensive and it needs to be restored. The other 2 were purchased from an estate sale. I just saw Rolex in the box and made her an offer. I had no idea what I had and she was just trying to get rid of all her husbands old belongings. I got those 2 Rolex's, 2 vintage IWC's from the 50's and a bunch of collectable diving gear (the guy was a big time diver who had great stuff. I gave her $2000 for everything which she was very happy about. I put the watches away and forgot about them for 6 months. My wife wanted to restore one for me for my birthday and took at to a local jeweler. They informed her what she had and made an offer to her to buy them (thankfully she refused).
Haven't bought a watch in a little while because I was kinda waiting for the right one to come along. Found this guy the other day and pulled the trigger. It's going to be my everyday work watch. ( I basically sit at a computer all day)
Nothing fancy but I asked a buddy if he had any Seiko divers laying around and he told me he was wearing one at that moment. Something about buying it since it still had the hang tags, etc.A pic was sent and I jumped on it... 1983 Seiko 7458 JDM repleat with the kanji day wheel and Suwa marks. It even hacks! I am a very happy boy with this watch on my wrist!
I'm a serious watch nerd, love mechanical divers and pilot/Flieger styles the best. Changed the oil and did some general maintenance on my daughters car today and went with an Orient Ray on an inexpensive Clockwork Synergy NATO that I got awhile back for $3 on clearance at Best Buy.
Not a fan of vintage Quartz? I got the automatics covered too! My other favorite tool watch.... Seiko Prospex SBDC-001 aka the "Sumo". You know you're wearing this chunk o' watch!
