Personal preference.
I made my own PSO after using AoS and found I wanted more castor oil in the mix to thicken it up more to the viscosity of the AoS. I don't find it goopy at all.
How much are you using? I kept the AoS PSO bottle for my own PSO because I like the opening. I put my finger over the opening, tilt the bottle, get a bit of oil on my finger, then rub it on. Just keep doing that until my face has a thin coating of PSO and I'm set.

 

I bought a bottle of this las night and used it this morning before ever having read this post, and I found my face was less irritated and I had no weepers after a two pass shave. That may be due to a variety of factors including better prep and shave technique as this is only my fourth straight razor shave. I will still give some props to this oil. BTW I like the smell of the clove oil in this, so bonus number two.

I to make my own preshave oil, I like my a little runny so I don't use and castor oil but I do at a little glycerin with it. The glycerin of course separates with the oil but a quick shake of the bottle does the trick.
