I'm with you here, Steven. Not only was this a good time but was very informative to yours truly. I look forward to this happening again ~ October.
One other thing... Based on the advice regarding vintage Gillette razors y'all gave me yesterday, I visited here and at that other shave forum site, only to find that nearly all of the super speeds sell almost as quickly as they're listed. I then ignored your advice about the bay, and found 3 cheapos that I will be trying to snipe just as they close: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170473546030#ht_500wt_1182 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...153103&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1182 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...157012&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1182 In each case, my maximum bid with shipping will be $15, so I may not win any of them.
that's a good way to approach the 'bay- look for user grade razors and put a reasonable limit on spending. Hope you win one of those. They look nice!
I wish Chicago was farther south. It sounds like you guys had a blast, I would have loved to join in. Besides I'm getting tired of cleaning the snow from my car in the winter and I love southern food.
I am in .Lets do a regional,La Ms Tx Ar.I will help JoAnna out to come down and join us for the event if someone will help out Sparky. This would be cool to make this a national event .I hope you guys are cool with this .Give me a time a time of year so we all can start working on this project. Cheers Rocket
I won the first one on the list for $11.00. My guess is that the latter two will close higher than that, so I've cancelled my snipe bids. The later posts above sound interesting, but a regional event, as suggested, may outgrow the logistics of our back yards. The more the merrier, I say, so let's see what happens. Somewhat similarly, my other hobby is motorcycle riding, and as y'all shavers might guess, there are all kinds of get-together happenings... Some day I might even go to NC/TN to be part of one of those Tail 0f The Dragon meetings.
Oh my, that would be interesting and fun. Right now we are looking for sometime in Oct. Hadn't gotten a firm date yet but will work on it. We might, in fact, outgrow a backyar BBQ quickly. More to follow
I'm not in Louisiana anymore *and I'm sure the ex gf is pretty damn happy about that..hehe*. I'm a Yankee (actually more of a fan of the hapless Mets, que - rim shot)...anyways, I lived in Vernon Parish for about 2 1/2 yrs *in a super tiny town called Anacoco, ie blink town, cause you blink and you've drove right through it! I see that someone here has Daleks as their icon...I'm a Dr.Who fan myself...(Tom Baker was the best Dr, imho). I sometimes would go to Pineville for work , as I did pc work for a local dishnetwork reseller and they had a office in Pineville.
yep. I'm a fan o' the doctor. I'm also that guy from Pineville. I'm sure you know this, but you want to be careful about admitting you're a Yankee anywhere in the South. Esp. if you're talking about sports. Around here, there's the Saints and there's LSU. The rest are fighting words.
I would be interested in any dates for another get together. I'm a Louisiana native transplanted now in Alabama. I do have family stretching from Monroe down to Lafayette, so with some notice I might can coordinate my schedule.
I think we've settled on some time in October, but the location hasn't been determined. I suppose a lot of that would have to do with the number of avid shavers that want to get together. I'll volunteer my back yard for a cookout and I'll supply the burgers, hot dogs, beans and char griller, but there are members in Pineville and/or Slidell who might want to seize the opportunity to host in a town other than Baton Rouge.
