    Snag-It for Mac?

Nope, but OS X's "Grab" offers a way of capturing a visual and posting it here. Have to save as jpg though. Default is tiff and that's no good. Or am I the only Mac guy here who didn't know this? Hey, I've only had it for two days! :)

Well, thanks to my son, I now have my PC back - good as new. Started from scratch with a new hard drive (actually, not new - he bought it some time ago and never used it). After it was running and we loaded an antivirus program (AVG) and Spybot, we installed the old hard drive and scanned it. Poor baby was in very bad shape!! Now I have two hard drives, but had to remove the floppy drive to make room (as if I'd ever used it).

    So now I have a 2 Gig RAM x 200 Gig MacBook Pro and a 5 year old 512MB RAM x 60+40 Gig Dell Dimension 4600, XP Pro, SP2.

    Mac wins. :D

Oh, on the PC, is there any reason I should not upgrade from IE V6 to V7?

    Thanks.

I don't really care about IE at all, so I'd say ditch it and download firefox.

Oh, I already USE Firefox, but on occasion, I'll start up IE. Just wondered if I should succumb to the periodic "updates are ready..." and all it is is IE7.

I wouldn't bother, especially if you don't use it. On the other hand, the only thing you have to lose with that is time.

Sounds like I might as well then. Time is pretty much a non-issue.

Oh, one more thing...I figured my PC bookmarks (in Firefox and IE) were toast. Not only are they not gone, but they're now on the Mac (Firefox) too. :happy088

  7. I have been using windows for years, and a heavy user of the Internet. Never had a virus never had malware. I am on Vista and don't even have a virus checker. Then again some people say Vista gives them a BSOD.

Either you are SUPER EXTRA TIMES 100 lucky Mike, or whatever you have gotten over the years has been minor and you haven't noticed it.

Hi, Johan. I have Safari and Firefox. So far, I think I prefer Firefox - probably because it's what I used on the PC. Rarely used IE. I did go ahead and upgrade to Version 7, though I still don't imagine I'll be using the PC much - and IE even less.

What do you use for email? I have Thunderbird, Mail and Entourage (ugh!). T'bird is the best of the three, but I do miss Outlook.

On my work PC I use IE7, not by choice but because some apps we use require IE to work properly.

For mail I exclusively use web-based mail these days. Gmail for my personal accounts and at work I use the outlook-webmail. After a crash where my mailstore got corrupted I swore never to use a client based mail again, and I have never looked back. Gmail isn't the greatest webmail but it's always accessable. I used Yahoo mail before, and that was slightly better (dunno how the new version of Yahoo mail compares though).

I have used Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Eudora and a range of other [more or less obscure] mail clients before (even wrote one myself back in the mid-90's) and I never really liked any of them. But I think I hated Outlook with Word as embedded editor most of them all... It ate all resources it could pry from other apps :sick007
