I've been quiet because I am still looking forward to the ides... But I've been impressed with the blade work! Tomorrow is a Veg day!

I shaved on the ninth but there was really nothing to report. It was basically the same shave I have been having. I used my Maggard brush with some Proraso red and ended the shave with a near BBS effort.

Thursday I decided to go back to my Stirling Kong brush and used the Tabac with it. Everything about the shave seemed exactly the same as the near BBS shaves. Except the finish. Finally hit a BBS with the Tech and GSB. :bounce015: Took a while but I found it. It really is about finding that perfect sweet spot, but with the Tech it really just glides so mildly and efficiently that I think I was trying too hard. Just let it come, that was my lesson today. Either that or use the Stirling Kong since it was the only other difference. :happy068:

Tomorrow I move on to the Ladas blade. Probably going the wrong way with blades because it is not quite as sharp as the GSB and I probably need the sharp blade in the mild razor. We will see how it goes before switching to the Bolzano and maybe ending the month with the BIC and the feather.

Reference your last paragraph about sharpness.

    Congrats on mastering the Tech!

Nice job! That's a difficult blade in a mild razor, and it sounds like it worked out ok.

If you find one with a really bad original knot an Omega Pro 49 knot is a very good match for the vintage look. Below is a pic of my 400 with Omega 49 knot next to Vince's @Rufus T. 400 #4 original on the right.

This was basically a repeat of yesterday's shave. It was fairly comfortable, and I would rate it a CCS. Looking forward to my Friday. Hope everyone has a great day.

Another near BBS from the Feather in my Birth Quarter Tech. A smooth and comfortable 2 pass shave. I chased the baby quite a bit during my touch up and then decided that it just wasn't going to happen. Picked up a tiny weeper on my neck that called for the styptic pencil to shut it down. The Clubman stung a small amount, but that didn't last.

I hope everyone has a great Friday.

A fantastic shave this morning. I really love the lavender scent of MdC especially on such a nice spring morning. Everything just clicked this morning ending in a near perfect shave. Finished with F&C Capri. Happy Friday everyone.

Fat Friday! Pretty nice shave this morning with MWF and the Maggard razor. I did have a couple of tiny weepers around the corners of my mouth. I've had more weepers in the past three days than in the past two weeks. Don't know if it's the new cold water regimen, the blade, or my technique. It certainly wasn't the lather's fault! Mitchell's makes tremendous lather - thick, rich, nice and slick. It's amazing stuff.

Tomorrow I may go back to the Schick G1 to continue my technique enhancements with SE razors. Or, if I stick with the Maggard, then I'll put in a new blade to see if that makes any difference with the weepers. If I continue to get them then I may have to try warm/hot water again. I'll figure it out with some experimentation.

I hope wherever you are and whatever you do that today is a great one!

Today I cranked the PAL up to H and got a fantastic two pass shave with almost no touch up. The aggressive setting is the one for me. I did manage to get careless and nick my Adam's apple. This is a very nice razor.
All of the talk of Rubberset 400 brushes prompted me to use mine today. It's a wonderful brush

I've got him on lightly salted mashed potato pancakes. Lightly toasted so its not sharp coming back up. I'm guzzling pineapple/mango/orange juice. Its tasty and helps a sore throat and cough. Also soups and broths for me again to help my throat. The child wouldn't drink anything healthy so he has Sprite.
