I have a tech that is efficient and mild. It's a pre-war, and BBS is easy with it.

My prewar tech was really bad. Its was too mild and was really hard to shave with because it hardly cut hair. I ended up using terrible technique and pressing to make it work with fewer than 6 passes. I'm thinking it might have been damaged since no one else has had any trouble from it that I've seen. I would try one again if I ever saw one come up for sale ultra cheap or if I win one in a PIF. It would leave me in a PIF if it acted the same way as my last one.

Still very busy. This is my projected shave sometime today. Probably won't be until later to night. It is sunny here today and I saw a Robin a few days ago. All good signs.

I could probably take a cue from you! I have been trying to spend more time reading my Bible as well, especially with my 5 year son. He needs to see me doing that more often.

I had a nice one pass with my son this morning. I got a CCS with the Ralf Aust, and the MdC was slick as ever. My son picked out the Brut for me, which is nice because I always associate it with my Dad. Have a great Saturday.

Great set up Doug. What do you think of the CH1 brush?

I purchased the CH1 with your generous gift card at Italian Barber. I like it very much. It holds a lot of lather and applies it evenly. Great brush. Thanks.

My gift card only covered a small portion. I was just curious as I want to at a Simpsons brush at some point.

Final outing for the Feather in my Birth Quarter Tech this morning and last Tech shave of the month. Wound up with another near BBS. Even though I chased the baby (and thought I'd caught him) I found some stubble after the Clubman dried. I haven't been as impressed with the feather in this razor as I was in my Old Type or Phoenix DOC. Not sure why it didn't seem to be able to a produce a BBS in the Tech. None of the other blades this month missed the BBS every single time. I'm going to switch to my Birth Quarter Super Speed tomorrow. Hopefully the Feather will perform better in that razor.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

It's the thought that counts. :happy088: I think you would like a Simpsons brush. I know it's Doug's fault if you purchase a Simpson brush. :happy102:

    March focus shave 11

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 Injector
    Brush: Escali badger
Lather: Country Club for Men Cahaba Blues shaving soap
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

    Cold Water.jpg

Shaved earlier this morning but haven't been able to post until now. This was a really close shave with the Schick injector. Nice DFS results. The Cahaba Blues soap from Country Club is really nice stuff. Complex scent and terrific performance.

I am continuing with a cold water trial. It's been almost a week now. My face has felt really good this week and the irritation has been at a minimum. I did have a few more weepers than normal this week but I think that was due to the blade. I'm going to continue the cold water regimen and see where it leads.

No nicks or weepers today, but I did have a little irritation on my chin area, but it cleared up in a just a little while. This was a nice, close, enjoyable shave.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

    Saturday Shave

    Cold water
    Pso-Homemade mint oil
    Razor-Gillette Flair Tip SS
    Blade- Rapira Platinum Lux (1)
    Brush- RazoRock Plissoft
    Soap- Arko stick
    Thayers Witch Hazel
    ASB-Nivea Sensitive

For my first go with the Rapira I am happy. I threw a two day beard at it and it mowed it down. I tried a new pattern today, I first went WTG. For the second pass I went from right to left on the right side of my face and left to right on the left side. My third pass I flipped it and went left to right on the right side and right to left on the left. I really like the results, a DFS bordering on BBS if not for two problem areas. There was some irritation but not enough that the Thayers didn't calm it down. Finished up with the Nivea ASB. The Arko lathered like crazy in my new bowl but I'm unsure about it's protection. I'm going to do the same shave next time but try another soap.
I'm continuing my introduction to bowl lathering. I'm really liking the results I'm getting by first building the lather in a bowl then face lathering. I may have to find another focus to finish the month. I might take another pass at hot water shaving. Have a great day folks!

    Thanks for the encouragement! :)

Jim, I hope you can find the time to make it happen. I agree that it will make a positive impression on your son! I use the BibleGateway app on my phone, which allows me to read anytime I have a few minutes. You can choose from several different one-year reading plans that take 20 to 30 minutes per day. I also invested in a nice printed Bible with larger print, opaque paper, and line matching (lines printed on both sides of the page match up to minimize bleed through) that I enjoy reading. I keep it handy where I can easily see it when I'm in front of the TV or the computer. :)
