    Drug Store CJB shave...
Day Three went really well. Did a full face lather technique with the goo. One wtg followed by a hybrid and it was near bbs. The alum stung on the chin, but it was near bbs again. With CJB the key seems to be very light touch. Hit it with the Arctic Blue and life was cool again. Headed on a little side trip with Mrs. Samurai tomorrow. I will attempt to post, but may be too busy. The plan is to continue with straight razors until April 1. Four inches of snow in the last three hours, other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a Fabulous Friday!

As someone who is interested in hoping into shavettes/straights would you suggest the CJB as a good stepping stone or would you advise on just going straight to the straights (See what I did there? :D)?

Schick G is the stepping stone for learning skin stretching and angle control. The next step is straight razors. Had I not learned straights first, this CJB would have cut me up badly. Straights are much more forgiving than a disposable blade.

Stunner. I can't even imagine a 30k from Glen. Very nice!

I'll look into getting a Schick G then. Thanks!

It doesn't even need to be a G specifically. Anything G or earlier is what you need.

Perfect. Watch any straight razor video, and learn the skin stretching techniques until it's automatic. Skin stretching is at the core of the straight razor shave. You can't use a straight safely without the skin being taut.

+1 on WD. They are a good place to start along with the poor man's strop kit.

I had a good shave this morning that I would rate as a CCS. I did get to minor weepers, which isn't too common for me. I am almost sleep walking into my Friday, so I went with a little pick me up in The Veg. Have a great Friday.

I went from a DE to a shavette, spent about a month on the shavette, then went to straights. I call these a pain stick, because they are absolutely unforgiving to poor technique, and they punish errors. They will force you to learn skin stretching, and figure out the right mix of stuff for post shave. I would second the suggestion you go straight to straights. Whipped dog is a good place to get a straight, but any professionally honed vintage straight will work. Don't try to learn to hone it at the same time, it's important to learn to use the razor, and know what a properly honed edge feels like. It's possible to shave with an edge that isn't properly honed, but you won't know that unless you try a properly honed one, which will be easier and way more comfortable.

Happy Friday everyone. I for one am glad to see the end of this week. After being up most of the night with back pain, the shave this morning certainly improved my outlook. The MW Orange Vanilla was much easier to lather today. I am sure the troubles last time were user errors. Going with a 3 pass shave and paying particular attention to my trouble spots allowed me to skip touch ups and still finish with a near BBS. Finished with a splash of F&C Capri and I am off for more tax returns. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

Thank you. It's a prototype handle I'm testing for a friend. I'm expecting another lighter handle for testing. I'm looking forward to comparing the two.
