Just a nice, simple one pass shave this morning. I needed just a tad of clean up on my Adam's Apple, but finished with a CCS. Last day of work this week, as tomorrow is a holiday for the refinery. I hope everyone has a good Thursday.

You must like that brush. You seem to be using it a lot lately. Looks great with that razor.

    March focus shave 22

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Personna lab blue
    Razor: Superspeed
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Lather: La Toja
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

    Cold Water.jpg

Nice CCS this morning. First time using La Toja shaving soap. Wow! I really enjoyed it. Gobs of slick, thick lather with a nice, refreshing scent. That lather provided the backdrop for the Superspeed to glide right through the whiskers. No nicks or weepers today. No irritation, but my lower neck to the right of the Adam's apple is feeling a little stingy. However there is no visible irritation. It has felt that way after shaving the past three or four days. That feeling will go away in a little while. It's a little odd.

I have enjoyed fiddling around with items from the Nationwide Tour Box. It has allowed me to procure my first Superspeed as well as some great soaps and creams.

    Have a great day everyone!

I do like the brush a lot. Plus it's hard for me to put down the new toy. I do have another handle with a new knot I set last night. I'm sure it will move to the front of the line this weekend.

In addition, I anticipate a long brush project coming together early next month. I am really looking forward to putting it to use.

Great shave today, maybe the best straight shave ever for me. DFS, very slight stubble in a couple places if I really rub against the grain. No complaints! Hope everyone has a great day!

She was on a lot, Dilaudid pain pump, this stuff is 3-4 times stronger than morphine. Let's just say if you're on it, you are in some serious pain

The month of March has me focused on two Schick E type razors: a Canadian E and a US E2, while also trying out different blades with each.

But some of the other non-conformists on TSD (over in the Injector/SE Shave Party thread) are honoring the 102nd anniversary of the patent on the 1914 EverReady (3-24-1914).

Last September I picked up what I think is the 1912 GEM Junior and ‘1924’ EverReady (ShovelHead) when I did a month of SEs for SE SEptember. I shaved with about 12 different GEMs and injectors that month and then dove head first into the injector RAD rabbit hole. As a result I only had time for one shave each with the 1912 and ‘1924.’

So though I don’t own the 1914, in the spirit of it all I will use the 1912 today and 1924 tomorrow.

    Razor: 1912 Gem
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Soap: Nancy Boy Signature

What a wonderful shave! This is probably as close to the sensation of using a straight as I can imagine (or as close as I'll ever get to using one) as you can hear and feel the reverberation of each whisker cut against the blade/razor. Too cool! Just 3-4 hours later, it's near the efficiency of the Schick Es I’ve been using this month. Will know for sure tomorrow, but my face is oh so smooth right now and no irritation.

    Cheers!

First shave with this razor. Amazing. Kinfolks is another brand manufactured in New York/ Pennsylvania. Kinfolks was started by three cousins, two with the last name of Case, and one named Platt. It is considered part of the Case Family of cutlery companies. This razor has almost no hone wear, and has the original celluloid scales, bolsters, and pins. Glenn honed it up to 30K on the Sharpton system, and man can this thing shave. Two passes and touch up, and just shy of BBS. Soap was awesome. I had planned on trading out the knot in this brush handle for a badger, but I may just keep it. I prefer boar, but sometime synthetic is nice.
