Everything just worked well this morning. The MdC was super easy to lather and provided a nice slick lather. Another near BBS shave this morning. Finished with a splash of Fine L'Orange. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

A very nice shave with this razor. The French tip is a bit different as I did kind of poke myself once, but it shaves nicely. I did a one pass plus a little clean up for a CCS verging on DFS. The Clubman is always a nice scent to get me moving in the morning. Have a great Wednesday.

Clint, are you moonlighting for Outdoor ShaverMan Magazine? :) WOW!! BEAUTIFUL picture!!
Your use of Fine L'Orange caused me to buy a bottle 6 months ago or so, I get more "likey" from my wifey with Fine L'Orange then any other aftershave.

Thank you Kerry. It's just nice to get outside for a change. We have had a very wet winter.

The Fine L'Orange and Platinum are my favorite aftershaves. Funny my wife prefers Orange as well.

Hmm, a soap that rejected me and burns when it touches my skin, and distilled cat piss for an aftershave? I think I'm gonna sit this one out, Neal. Have fun!

Guys. Last night around 7:30pm we had a number of small earthquakes, nothing big 3.2 you almost don't notice them. Well I have this old oval mirror that hangs on a chain in my bedroom, it's the size of a football (American) and I have aftershaves and all the normal stuff us hoarders wet shavers have on shelves and dressers.

The mirror starts to sway and lightly bang against the wall. I'm used to earthquakes, I live in California.
In a millisecond my thoughts go back to The 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake on October 17 at 5:04 p.m. a magnitude 6.9 earthquake.

    Is this the big one?

As fast as my thought came the earthquake stopped, and the mirror rested back onto the wall. The saddest thing is, I wasn't worried about getting my family outside, I wasn't worried about my own safety, I was worried about the possibility of a bottle of aftershave falling off a shelf, a razor falling out of the rack, or if my cabinet was secured properly.

As best as I can tell, it is older than 1891 as it doesn't have England stamped on there as country of manufacturing. Since it uses "Their Majesties" it may be between 1830 and 1837, but is supposed to a fairly unreliable dating method. I am certainly not much of an expert, though. I just like to shave with it. ;)

Well, we can at least say your priorities are in order!

I lived in Livermore for 4 years, and only felt one earthquake. I have to admit, it was a much different experience than I had ever imagined. They are a bit frightening.

    March focus shave 28

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Personna lab blue
    Razor: Gillette Travel Tech
    Brush: Trader Joe's synthetic
    Lather: Tabac soap stick
Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Fine Platinum, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, XTG, touch-up

    Cold Water.jpg

Pretty smooth, close shave this morning. First time using the Tabac shaving stick. I rubbed it on my face and then lathered with the brush. The lather was really nice, but it did dry up on my neck a little. That seems to be a trend with the soap sticks that I've used. But it all worked out in the end. Nice lather, good protection, good slickness.

I'm improving with the Gillette travel tech and the small handle. It's a pretty good little razor. I'm happy to have one for my dopp kit.

I also think I have made some good strides this past month as far as continuing to improve and hone in on razor technique as well as introducing the element of cold water shaving. Cold shaves have helped my face recover faster after shaving, I experience less irritation, and find it refreshing. It's not for everyone, but I'm glad to have tried it and to now adopt it as my main water temperature.

All in all a good shave. Hope you all have a great day!

I've been working this month on paying attention to mixing a better lather. I've learned that some brushes and soaps work well together, others don't. Some soaps you can make a great lather with a spoon. They just make excellent lathers each and every time. It doesn't matter how hard I to try to mess it up. They are just amazing soaps.
Not taking my time to work up a great lather is my biggest fault. I tend to try to get a good lather quickly (30sec)(I don't know how that got into my head), for three passes. I've learned to slow down, take my time, enjoy the process of making a good lather and should I need more lather then whip up some more. This has been an excellent focus for me this month. My favorite brushes are still Badger, and I've been able to enjoy more soaps by taking my time and enjoying the process of making a good lather.
Have fun and play nice. :)

    Two-pass shave - XTG, ATG
Waking up this morning I had little reason to shave after yesterday’s face off. But my face did show slight variations - cheeks were still near-baby smooth though a visual showed a bit less ‘shadow’ on the E2 side. Oddly, the E2 side had a bit more shadow on one of my trouble spots - the jawline. I would judge this one in favor of the Canadian E, but I’m slowly getting to realize that my ATG strokes are different one side vs. the other. I think my dominant side shave strokes are a bit better, than my ‘across the body’ stroke.

(Mark my words - this is where the Grand Poobah @Bama Samurai encourages me to learn to shave with both hands!)

Aside from these blades getting nearer to the end of the road, todays’ shave was as good as yesterdays.

    Cheers!
