I had shaved on late afternoon yesterday and probably should have skipped today but I had work and I could feel the stubble. I could have gotten away with it or just used the electric to put a polish on it but what fun is that!! Besides, I have another Jayaruh brush to try out. The handle is a beautiful honey color that reminded me of French Vanilla so that is what I will call it. Kinda ties in with the whole dessert motif. After all, these things are a part of the finer things in life. I found this one fit my hand even better than Dark Chocolate. I think the concavity near the bottom was just a tad wider and suited my hands better. Fr. Vanilla has more backbone than Dk Chocolate and only marginally less soft tips. With the greater backbone it was easy to pull product from the puck but I found it needed a bit too much force to splay it. Even with the firm backbone, the tips made for a soft ride across my face. I did not measure the knot but the two appear to be smaller than my 23mm and the blossom is much tighter. Oddly, it seems to produce a wonderful amount of lather much more than my largest badger brush. I did the same as before, sprinkle the puck with a few drops of water and just a quick pass of the brush under the shower head - no soaking. It too made a rich lather only seen by its kin (DC) amongst the brushes I own. I think it tuned it better and grabbed enough soap for 4 passes and just a bit more.

Stirling Baker St is great stuff. Scent is awesome and it is nicely slick. I hate to waste even a drop. To alt least gain some pleasure from the extra lather that would otherwise go down the drain, I have been applying it for nothing else but to enjoy the scent a bit more and count how many extra passes I had from it. If lather also cleans one's face, I must have the cleanest face around :) !! Sure beats having the drain smell good.

The Fatboy was dialed down to 3 since I only had a bit more than half a day's growth. Yeah, I could shave twice a day if I had to be smooth. Unfortunately, sensitive skin says otherwise. I ended 3 passes with a CCS. Alum showed that I was irritated and hot in spots. I still missed some spots but any more than what I did and I was asking for a fire red and irritated face.

At the very least, I got to enjoy another shave with a Jayaruh brush. Thank you Jim for a quality addition to my den.

While not exactly a carriage bolt razor we'll give you at least half credit for creating that frankenrazor. No blood? Well, can't have everything now can we. :(

It surprised me a tiny bit. I was assuming there would be a weeper or two, just on principle. Actually, I went into it assuming I'd probably bail sometime during the first pass and actually had a backup razor ready. But, no... The Christy is actually a very nice razor.

In terms of scariness, that only leaves me the Pearl/Cadet OC TTO (which I can't bring myself to try again) and one of those Crappy European Vending Machine Razors (part of the PIF from @Morman Bridge).

    Razor: Trac II
Blade: Col. Conk Trac II (5)
Brush: Brass handle w/ Black Badger?
    Soap: Captain's Choice Sandalwood
    Aftershave: Captain's Choice Sandalwood

Got a pretty good shave tonight. I'll pack in this razor and brush. The knot needs to be changed, so it has now made it's way to the work bench.

I gave myself a tiny little slice today. Pretty much stopped bleeding with a little cold water, and I was able to scrub away any sign of it a little after the shave, but I swear to God I don't know what I was thinking. I had set the razor in place, and was just starting an ATG cleanup stroke, (so a little pressure) and I started to turn my head. I have no idea why. I felt it right away and stopped, but it could have been a bad one. It is probably for the best that I didn't play with carriage bolts and Feathers today. Otherwise, a nice DFS all the way around.

The brush handle looks great. With a better knot you'll have a great brush. Another great winter photo. How long does winter hang around for you?
