Shavette Shave #11--
”What About Elevensies…?”
Gear
- Razor: Focus R21 Shavette
- Blade: Personna Blue (1)
- Brush: Stirling Kong
- Soap: Soap Commander “Drive”
- Menthol: Stirling Frost Drops
- AS: Avon Wild Country--I know, right? Keith @ hit me up last week and offered to let me try a bit of Pinaud’s Citrus Musk. I had been wanting to get some citrus in my rotation somewhere, and since I had to drop Tsuka this seemed like a great opportunity to fill the void. Because nobody at TSD can walk one mile without desiring to walk with you twain, my already generous sample of Citrus Musk (sent in an Avon glass pipe, no less) came with a glass car, full-up, with Avon Wild Country. I like it, but of course that means nothing. I put on a healthy dose early this morning, then went to wake the Missus up for a hug good-bye and received no protestations--a good sign. I’ll reapply when I get home and just hang out for a bit. If she doesn’t say anything… Wild Country, we are a ‘go’!
- Balm: Stirling Glacial Unscented

The Shave...
Yesterday I decided to start my shave XTG instead of WTG, so I did because, by Gadfrey, I’m that kind of guy. I quickly discovered that my WTG passes with a shavette reduce more hair than my XTG passes, so I scrapped that plan and just went at it.
1st pass was pretty effective reduction, and I buffed my chin as well. 2nd pass might (ATG) might be more accurately called a 2nd and 3rd. I only did one pass but found myself repeating strokes simply because I was enjoying doing it. Got some slight irritation as a result--better off re-lathering and admitting that I’m taking three passes. I’ll catch myself next time. Did a fool’s pass without feeling foolish even.
The result is BBS on cheeks, back half of the jaw, upper lip and most of the chin. DFS along neck and front half of the jaw. DFS/CCS on the lowest, southernmost part of my chin. This would have been the perfect Sunday shave, and the slight irritation an acceptable trade-off.
But today is Thursday.
I’ll save these shaves for church or date nights with the Missus. Still, can’t say I’m disappointed with how things turned out--I just don’t think it’s a sustainable/viable shave for every day.
I’ll catch up later this afternoon. You all have a fantastic day-before-Friday!
11 down, 89 to go!
