March 2020 30 Day Rule/Focus Pix and Discussion

Congrats Tim! Shave no. 2 is in the books, and I call it a success. As you have already said, slow and steady wins this race. You got it, and we got your back!

Red marks and irritation on the neck happen to me too occasionally. You're getting some great advice and focusing on the right things to avoid this kind of stuff most of the time. There will be days, though, when it happens anyway. I guarantee that it will become more infrequent as time goes on.

I love to shave every day, but I find myself skipping days when I use a shavette. The resulting shaves, for me, tend to be more satisfying and easier on my skin. I'll eventually get back to daily shaving with the shavette. I'm in no hurry. I'm just having fun and continuing to work on my technique.

I love to see Conan. Bring on the props. We love some stupid in this house too. I once took an SOTD photo on top of an All Bran box. It may have been a bad move, but I ran with it anyway. Maybe I'll do a corn cob photo one day.

Edit to last shave post. Paid the consequences of not checking how dull my blade was. ended up cutting the holy hell out of my face. Guess I gotta learn somehow!? toilet paper time now!

If I have any doubts about a blade before I shave , I've learned to toss it and insert a new one. I've even had a new injector blade rip me up pretty good not that long ago so it pays to check first.

 

Thank you for the moral support, Charlie! I got a bit of a surprise in the mail today, so no need for silliness tomorrow. But I'll be breaking the monotony eventually.

Crud, that sucks, Myles! Sorry to hear it (I've had similar experiences when various children wanted to test the cutting power of my razors on pieces of paper or plastic--they only ever tell me after the shave. I'll check to make sure they weren't in the area...

Is it safe to presume you laid the cereal box on its side to get SOTDers to fit? I'm sure it is, but you know what people say-when we presume we make a pres out of u and me.

Thanks for understanding where I am coming from, Charlie! I think you also knew that when I made the razor comment that because I am primarily a straight shaver and my age, 100 blades would last me 5 years. So, it would take me 50 yrs to go through one thousand and I will long be in glory with Jesus until I exhaust them. I think our main goal is to make suggestions that could make it easier for others to shave well and to poke each other in the ribs doing it. That's why this is a great place to share and exchange different ideas on shaving tools, soaps, etc. Personally, I think Neal looks good with the goat! Finally, I am glad I got this brush and thanks for showing it to me.

Don't fret, Myles! It happens to veteran shavers like me. I have pushed blades to their limits and have paid a bloody price. You are new to shaving so put this experience in your file not to do it again. Unfortunately, you will do it again within the next 60 yrs of your shaving life.

 

I think I might end up using my Gillette Blue tip before military ball coming up in May for ROTC. It's not a very aggressive razor thankfully and to be honest I really don't want the girl that I haven't seen in 3 years I'm taking out, see my face and her to think I got attacked by a rabid animal, but in actuality it was just a dull blade I shaved with.
