    626EECC5-5E75-4ED8-B092-BC17DB561439.jpeg SOTD FRIDAY MORNING, MARCH 26, 2021

Welcome to Wool Fat Friday! This morning I opted for a traditional Fatboy Wool Fat Friday shave. Although admittedly not a fan of Gillette TTO’s, I find the head design on the Fatboy to be bulky and awkward. But this morning’s dome shave, while not up to the standards of the Shake Sharp or even the Gibbs Adjustables with their slimmer head geometry, provided an acceptably close noggin shave in two ATG passes.

Our Evan (@MrEE) at TSD, in my opinion, builds fabulous LE aluminum shaving brush handles. I own three (two fitted with synthetic knots and the third with a hybrid natural knot), and they’re rapidly becoming my regular gotos. The MrEE Monster Tuxedo Synth used today is aptly named. It’s huge and generated an explosion of lather. It was easily more than I needed, and in the process retired my old puck of MWF.

The clear highlight of the shave, however, was my newly acquired Herder 49 15/16. I’m really enjoying this razor! I was initially put off by the blade size, but the weight, heft in hand and overall balance make this razor an absolute delight to shave with. Three slow, extremely enjoyable passes after beginning, and my mug felt refreshed, clean and porcelain smooth! Me likee!!!

RAZOR: F. Herder 49 15/16 (Mug), Gillette Fatboy (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE LE Aluminum Gold Anodized Monster Tuxedo Synth
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with PAA Rabid Banana Star Jelly AS Balm.

Razor : 3d Printed Lather Catcher by twhite
    Blade : Gem (2)
    Brush: Trotter Handcrafts/Maggards Synthetic
    Soap: Derby Citronella Candle
    AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
    AS 2: Vintage Aqua Velva
    Fragrance:

So the Fluffy express (UPS) delivered the soap in record time and it was used with the 3D printed lather catcher on video which is uploading as I write this. The soap was very much like Arko in decent lather but not quite as drying post shave as I remember the Arko being. As far as scent, it's nearly a dead ringer for Arko which I find a synthetic lemon pledge/citronella kind of mix. Not a big deal but certainly not something I'd like to reach for regularly. This will get posted today or tomorrow to Mr Mike HighSpeed for him to use and write a little something about his take on it. And to post in the thread in the Soap section.
Have a great day everyone !!

    Thank you, Bill.
    Feather Pro-Guard.
Very interesting blade. It converts the AC into an OC.
Typical, terrific lather from the Valobra/AoS.

Yesterday, I shaved off my goatee and today was the first time in a very long time
I shaved my chin area with an open blade.
The blade doesn't feel any different to my skin than the other AC blades.
Perhaps it is not quite as aggressive, but my chin may disagree.
    Calling Daniel Day Lewis....
Broke out the alum, which was difficult to locate, seeing that I never use it.
    Witch Hazel/Proraso routine.
    Siberian Kasturi for the finish.
This is a musk from India.

Great noir photo and shave recap, Clint! It’s truly a YMMV type of thing with shave knots. I’m actually moving away from natural fiber knots. I do love my boar and hybrid knots, but some of the more recent synthetics are awesome performers for me. I fitted a SynBad to my new Evan handle and am amazed at the performance! The tuxedo synth in my other Evan Monster handle is great as well! It’s fabulous with MWF. Different strokes as they say! Enjoy your day!

Great Vector shave and photo, Jim! Am I misremembering or did you find the SB plate easier on your neck than the OC? Enjoy your day in leisure! ;) I know, I know, they always find something to keep us occupied! :(
