What a killer shave tonight. Any of the soaps with Stirling's mutton base are fantastic, and Port au Prince is my new favorite. I love that citrus and earthiness combination. When you hydrate it enough, this soap is so slick that I often miss little spots because I can't feel them until after I have really rinsed everything off. Tonight was one of those where I really thought I had caught the baby until a little later sitting down and felt a little miss on my jaw corner. So once again I have to call it very nearly BBS.

I am clean, smooth and wiped out. Gonna rack out really soon.

Hey everyone, just joined the Den! Figured I was going to keep to the reason that originally drew me to wet shaving about a week ago: not spend a ton of money on cartridge razors. So I was referred here by @RyX to do a 30 day...rule? I think.

And I've been using shea butter for pre and post shave. Except today, my third attempt I used the shea butter for pre shave and my really old Nivea for men aftershave balm...after I shaved. It smelled HORRIBLE so hopefully my face doesn't melt off in my sleep. I also used alcohol free witch hazel instead of the alum block. I liked it.

So May 10 was my first shave with the kit(and wet shaving) so 30 days will be June 8. 30 days of no spending any more money and using the kit. I already owned the shea butter and my girlfriend bought the witch hazel for me so those don't count lol.

It's a great idea to use the kit you have until your technique is solid and your results are repeatable. Jump right in, post your shaves of the day, ask questions, and have fun. There are a lot of good and knowledgeable folks here that stand ready ready to help. There's a couple, though...well, anyway...Most anything goes here! Shaving, shenanigans, smoke and mirrors, snake-oil operations, monkey business, buffoonery, Tom Foolery, MAYhem, redneckery...it's all good.

 

Welcome, Fup! The old saying "do as I say, not as I do" applies to this group. A 30 day focus (or 2) is the smartest thing you can do to improve your shaves up front. Lots of knowledge here, and lots of nonsense. Kind of a half Mr. Miyagi and half Wile E. Coyote kind of thing.

I'm trying to figure out a way to hold a blade in a fixed position while moving my face up and down.

 

I hear they are taller then the trolls though... just a nasty rumor I am sure.
