I struggled to get the correct angle with the Feather SS, the DX has a similar angle to a straight and I found it more to my liking. If you want to try a CJB, a DX come send me a PM.

Wow, 30 years, very impressive. Congratulations!

In the CJB and Feather DXi have a strong preference for Feather Pro blades. I sold my Feather SS, kept the DX.

Thanks Clint! Same way I raised my kids, my grand children have been exposed to big words. I noted when cleaning and bandaging a very minor wound on one of the Grands, "You perforated your epidermis!" Now they own those two words. I kind of feel sorry for kids whose parents expect the school to do all the educating. I've not stopped learning, and the little ones are just getting started.

Sterling's Island Man was my soap of choice, face lathered with my vdh badger.
Alum was quiet on all but a small batch under my right jaw.

Very long day....our 10 year old Jack Russell Terrier (blind, enucleated x2) had a dental procedure at 7am. Couple teeth lighter now, but back home early afternoon, doing fine, already eating and happy. She's back to Master of the house, even over her twin brother (with no sight issues). Add in tons of work and taxi duty for 2 active teen agers.....no web (or me) time other than this post and morning shave. At least I fell asleep Tuesday night caught up on over 800 posts from the weekend!

The Semogue had been lonely on the shelf...so it got called to duty and nailed it. All Proraso day. Slick, creamy, fragrant lathering indulgence IMO. Can't forget the Proraso Red AS.....it's icing on the cake to me.

The Puma did it's 200 laps on the strop this morning....100 on cloth, 100 on leather, before working a 2 pass CCS. Full size straight blade after about a week's worth of kamisori shaves....had me really thinking strategic movements cause that beast is going to mow down or touch almost 1.75x the surface area (and I like my earlobes scar free!).

BTW....found the absolute fastest way to end straight razor concentration (other than wifey and her shenanigans ;)). ZZZZ. ZZZZ. What?ZZZZ...ZZZZ. Who left the door open!!!?!?!! Darn fly. He didn't make it back to the door.....

Hope everyone had a great day!

hello fello shavers, wednesday shave, the brit contract tech came in a bakelite case or a blue tin case .as i couldn't find a decent #11 british service set i built one.my blue tin case came with a flat bottom new or french service set, so well you know i switched out the razors..mint razor ,mint case.. happy camper, sorry hardcore purist collectors, having an example of what may have been my grandads ww2 R.A.F set was the main reason i started this endeavor..the flat bottom new is an almost daily driver so it doesn't need a case, and my well worn contract fb now resides in the bakelite one.. 20190529_173324.jpg
anyhoo, enough babbling..the brit service fb tech loaded with a nacet , the rr 400 synth loaded with percy nobleman shave cream built an awesome scented slick lather in the stainless fingerbowl, together yielded a fabulous 2 combination pass dfs+ shave,no drama..razorock xxx a/s to finish..love this hobby :)..have a great thursday gents.. 20190529_171037 (2).jpg

Finished up the tub of TOBS Avocado yesterday, so all I have left is half a tube of Real Shave Co. SC that I want to finish and a few small Russian tubes that I want to use sparingly. Hopefully by the end of June, I can finish the RSC and get a new cream. Now if only I didn't have the better part of 2 cases of Arko left....

The shave this morning was alright. It wasn't a bad shave, but it wasn't particularly good either. It was definitely my fault as I knew it was going to be a long day and I really didn't care enough to make the effort. Two passes, close enough, with no irritation.

Rick, thanks for the compliment, but the credit really goes to Lynn Abrams. In the beginning, I was using long strokes until I happen to watch one of his videos promoting short strokes with a SR. I decided to try it because I wasn't locked in to a technique because I was a newbie. Needless to say, I found his method to be perfect for me. I also employ it when I use safeties. I am not that smart to invent new things, but I do plenty of research to help me figure things out.

Guess I'm not a Purist. Since you aren't on the bay hawking that set as other than what it is, no one was harmed in you gathering the best bits and making yourself happy! There aren't any Shelf Queens in your gear?
