    MAYhem 2019

    30 May, MMXIX A.D.

Day Thirty - Feather Day Four

Still hanging in there and shaving well! The Feather in the mild SS geometry of the Weishi 9306 is a great match. Two for the win...hero finish! Blazing sun out in the prairie. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

Have a great evening and a pleasant Friday!

    :)

Friday shave: I had a Mayhem shave prepared, my scariest most bloodthirsty straight razor was stropped and ready to go. I woke up too late as this razor requires some serious concentration. I also did not have time to take a pic. I had my Joris on stand by loaded with a GSB. A very nice shave, the more I use Fine shaving soap the more I like it.

Razor: Joris Gillette Silver Blue (2)
    Brush: Darwin Drake Certified
    Soap: Fine
AS: Jeris Osage AS, Stirling ASB
    Scent: Dior Vietiver

    It's alive.jpg

Greetings from HQ! Yes, I'm still alive and kicking. It's been a difficult month in many ways, not so difficult in others, but the past couple of weeks have been a bit of a challenge. For the first time in my life I've had some side effects of a medication hit me. A new one for my diabetes has thrown me for a bit of a loop but I'm coping and doing fine. It's an injectable med that I take once a week but the first couple of doses sent me for a bit of a loop. Couple that with a very busy and changing schedule at "work" and Jennifer's increasingly busy schedule to work with and I've been in "coast mode" for a bit. However, all is well and I'm feeling more like myself. I dosed yesterday with the new med and the side effects are noticeably less this time, so things are going to be fine. Now, if only the flipping numbers on the glucometer will start working lower.

Anyway - thanks to all of you for keeping this place a live and going concern! For those wanting to know what's next - it's "Just the Basics June"! Basic stuff. Drug store stuff. Simple shaving gear that works and doesn't cost a fortune. You get the idea and know the drill. I will be opening up June later tonight on schedule. The Cartel may stumble (and it's drug related......ironic but unintentional) but we never collapse. Also coming later tonight - a shot of the Meet-Up Limited Edition brushes!!

As far as shaves go, they have been a lot fewer than normal but I have continued using the Feather DX pain stick and various Stirling soaps. Good shaves when I've gotten them. I'll settle into a new routine for June.

Thanks again for all you do around here!!

That would be awesome, Jim. You'd be an excellent volunteer with the kids, and they will melt your heart. The nice thing about volunteering is that you can try something for awhile and move on to something else later. That keeps things interesting. I served as the vice president of our homeowner's association for a couple of months. I finally realized that I didn't retire to spend time doing something so time consuming, unpleasant and stressful...and not get paid for it...so I resigned. :)

I retired at 55 as well and haven't looked back. My Bride also retired at the same time, and we've had a blast together. We have busy days and fun days, and they all fly by at light speed. The next two years will pass incredibly fast. It's good that you're now starting to think about what you'd like to do in retirement. That will make your transition easier.
