Good for her.I donate to some organizations whose goal is to do just that. Did some volunteering at Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah-along with a group as part of a Road Scholar tour(name used to be Elderhostel). Such fun.

 

Thank you, Jim! I purposefully kept everyone out of the bathroom as shaving. My wife does not approve of stunt shaves, so I try not to do them in front of her. If she sees me, there are usually a few comments about "why", "what kind of example", and some about be not being very smart.

I have owned many, many tobacco scented soaps. I have even cured my own MWF more than once,
first time with a Captain Black cavendish and the second time adding some vanilla bean.
So it's safe to say that I have a modicum of experience with these soaps and aftershaves.
When I now say that Asylum Shave Works Old Virginia is my #1 tobacco soap/as combination,
I am NOT just "whistling Dixie". Yes, friends, it's even better than Eufros Tobacco.
ALTHOUGH, Manuel's Tobacco aftershave balm is exquisite and his soap base is pretty much at the
top of the heap, his tobacco soap simply does NOT smell like tobacco, nor does it even come close to his
tobacco aftershave balm. Therefore, the nod MUST go to Asylum Shave Works.
Dovo has been "in the news" these past few days, really getting their butts reamed by a few posters.
I am not going there. This Dovo 91 (yes it was honed before shipping to me) is one of my
absolute top edges. The razor design is super-cool and while I wish the Yew wood was
treated with a lacquer or something to that effect, the scales are austere and classy.
Did I forget to talk about my favorite Beehive?? That wouldn't be prudent.
The M&F Beehive is another of my favorites (I guess you could say that today's gear belongs in
Primo's Hall of Fame). The knot is a Two Band Finest with a fan knot. What more could one ask?
Excellent density, flow-through, backbone, softness and coverage. Yup, it's got it all.
40 laps on the Slavin and it was off to the races.
Up and down and all around, with no nicks, cuts nor irritation.
The ASW aftershave is alcohol-based and gave my face a nice tingle upon application.
The 75th shave is "in the can".

Jim, nice post! Also, thanks for clueing us in on the new Varen scent. I don't care much for the Glastonbury because the scent is very weak. However, it sounds like the Varen might be my cup of tea.

Joseph, great review, pic and shave! As far as the Dovo naysayers, I don't pay attention to them because I am a very satisfied Dovo customer. I always have achieved excellent shaves with my Dovo shavette and my 2 Dovo straights.

 

Well, the kids have a way of alerting Mom when Dad is not being very smart. Needless to say, she gets a lot of notices.
