Thank you Tim. It makes me wonder why I did not get the balm sooner. I do enjoy Stirling products.

Super report on that razor Joseph! Great images too, and awesome SMN bottle & cap.

Super nice shave and razors Evan! Can't wait to see the finish.

Awesome job on the honing James, great shave & report results!

Nice report and B&W image Charlie! Haven't sampled the JoHS BoS...only the Stirling version. If the JoHS is anything similar, it's awesome! Thoughts and prayers always!

Two very cool looking razors & shaves Tommy!

Anodizing coats the aluminum in a layer of aluminum oxide just thick enough that it could mar the finish on the blade.

The Merry Mixed Up Month of May!

    May 8

Razor - Feather DX Artist Club (Pain Stick)
    Blade - [IMG]
Soap - Oleo Soap Works El Caballero
    Brush - The Canuck
    Post - Alum

It's May 8th. Springtime. My wife spent lots of time in the past couple of weeks getting flowers put out, the lettuce and kale set out on the balcony. You know. Apartment gardening. Lots of work. Now, this evening, she's spent lots of time putting the flowers back in the house and covering the lettuce and kale. Frost warning for tonight. It is May 8th, right? Hey, I know the weather around here can be fickle, but shouldn't we be dodging tornadoes instead of frost right now? Yeah, that's what I thought. Well, what can you expect in a year when......."April showers bring........Murder Hornets!"

One thing I can count on, though, is that the Feather DX will still deliver a great shave, even with the Dorco blade still aboard. Third day on the blade and it may be feeling just a bit less sharp than days one and two. I noticed just a hint of drag a couple of times. However, the lather from the El Caballero and the Canuck brush with the SynBad flare knot kept it from being anything other than a great shave. Finished DFS with no blood and just a couple of pinpoint spots on the alum. Could be the blade, could be me with a bad set down or two. No matter. Still calling it a great shave.

Hope you have something fun planned for the weekend! I'm going to take a night off from memories and we'll pick those back up tomorrow! Have a great one!

Thanks, Blair! Don't know that I'd pull out 3 soaps at once terribly often, but the mixture turned out serendipitous, and it is Mix-It-Up May after all :D

About a month or two back I discovered I could determine where my phone's camera is focusing by tapping my finger on the spot--the effect is a bit random still, but sometimes I get lucky ;)

I have no idea how the anodizing process works--is it possible to coat or cover the inner part of the scale so it remains un-anodized? Or possibly sand/polish the anodized parts off the insides?

    Awesome shave, Neal!

Seemed like it was March that always wreaked havoc on my garden. We'd have things sprouting up nicely, then BLAM! Hail. This should be a non-issue in May, though

My next goal is to shave with a "Wade & Butcher". I don't know when I will accomplish that. It is a bit scary, I think.

Saturday shave: Checking another razor I touched up earlier in the week on my Suehiro 20k. Smiling razors are tricky to hone so I was thrilled that I nailed this one, smooth and sharp. I was on my way to an epic shave when I got to steep and cut myself.
