Wonderful report, photo and results, Joseph! So glad the Sharp Star helped with the shave. Sounds like you are getting tuned into the DEvette's nuances. Also glad to hear that Dr. Mrs. Primo likes at least one of you CF set ups :D

Amazing set up and photos, Gary! The Gillette, the zebrawood brush, the soap's scent profile, and the AS all look like something that would be used by a man with not just a shave den, but an actual den, den. Always a class act, sir :D

    The Shave
Today is Favorite Friday, so I thought I’d use my bomb-proof lathering technique with my not-so-bomb-proof Stirling Finest Badger brush (I’m getting it figured out, but it’ll still throw a surprise or two my way).
    • Step one: get the brush good and wet, shake out most of the water, take the brush directly to my shave stick, and load that sucker up (occasionally adding a small bit of water) until there is a good amount of soap on the brush.
    • Step two: work the brush against the palm of my hand, paint the lather down, squeeze it out, paint it out, add a small amount of water, work the brush against the palm of my hand… etc. I repeat this step until I have a smooth, shiny, need-a-microscope-to-see-the-bubbles lather that contains an ocean of water but still remains thick and yogurty.
Now, with a properly celestial lather in place, I was ready to take the Astra SP out for a spin. I'm impressed. I was able to take on the WTG, XTG, ATG 3 pass shave with no tugging. The chin put up a fight as it always does, but with some minor touch ups I was right between a BBS and a DFS, stubborn chin included. A small weeper or two (user error, though it’d make me feel better to blame the blade) and almost no irritation. A good shave.

    It’s Friday, folks--enjoy it! :D

    68 down, 32 to go!

I know that....I decided to devote this summer to, among other products, try to make the Razorocks Lime Burst look good and used. . Perhaps next summer. Also for now, I bet the Lime Glacial A.S. will put my face in the freezer(just arrived today, along with the Sharp Dressed Man Bodywash).

Razor: JR Torrey Celebrated Hollow Ground
Brush: Big Cyprass 24mm Silver Tip
    Lather: PAA King R. Emporium
Aftershave: Derby City Chop Shop Small Batch Tonic- Winter Reserve
    Additional Care:
    Barbero Alum Block
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Superb shave this morning. The badger brush whipped up enough lather for four or five passes if needed.

Another super smooth and comfortable shave.

Tomorrow begins Reduction Weekend #6 with a JustOne format for both days. It is part of the process to start to use up some soap.
