Looking good, Evan! Curious to see how much life you get from the blade.

I am interested in how your experiment goes. Feather also makes a carbon blade the same size.

No not bad stats at all. My oldest is finishing up her masters in Tempe so she has went by Wet Shaving Products and picked up several shave soaps as gifts. So overall I do better than ok.

Executive Man--great way to start off May!

I've read about the Valet Autostrop, but don't recall ever seeing one being used in the 30DC. I'm hoping it's more than a marketing ploy--can you imagine stretching a Feather's lifespan to one or two blades a month? How cool would that be! Not quite as cool as making your own razor, but still pretty cool! ;) :D

    May 1st It's Favorite Friday!

    Good morning gentlemen!
This month is Modern May and it means that I will only use contemporary razors in my den. So here is my first shave of the month.
    Straight Razor Shave #164
Böker King Cutter 5/8 Full Hollow Rd Pt
    JR #386 Silvertip Badger Brush
    Stirling Satsuma SS and AS
    Nivea ASB not pictured
I wanted to start the month with some of my favorites and the gear that I selected for today's shave is proof of it.
Whipped up a nice lather that was nice and wet, but not drippy. The scent of this soap is pure heaven coupled with the high standard of protection and slickness knocks it out of the spark. Did 2.5 passes to attack a 48 hr stubble to get an IBSS++. I didn't get any irritation, but nicked my lower left chin at its point. Finished the shave with a nice dose of the splash and the Nivea. I didn't get much of sting from the aftershave so it confirmed that my shave was close and comfortable. Have a great day and be safe! 20200430_170819.jpg 20200430_170819.jpg

    friday tech focus #14
#26 brit 4 piece tech set
    gsb
    simpson special
    tobs eton college

good morning gents, may is here.pulled out the 4piece today, standard flat bottom head design.these razors were available in england and canada, but had different knurling patterns.i know of 4 different ones.canadian razors had the prewar tech head and came as a travel or military type set..i won't post pics as they are easy to find if interested.
the simpson built a fine tobs lather ,gsb in the tech,2+ smooth passes and i was near bbs whisker free.i will continue the tech focus sporadically as i like my ocs and realistically am near the end of the different sets.a good chunk of my collection are flat bottom with different cases.tobs eton college aftershave to finish..awesome.happy My 1st everone, have a fine friday..

    May 1st
Razor: S•H Apollo light mild plate
    Blade: Gillette Platinum Blue (1)
    Brush: Simpson Trafalgar T3
    Pre-shave: PAA The Cube
    Soap: PAA Coconut Bay w/Lime
    PAA Galactic witch hazel
    PAA unscented Star Jelly
    AS: PAA Coconut Bay w/Lime

    Good morning!

Ice water shave to start the day. Started off with my scuttle and shave bowl fresh from a night in the freezer, both filled with ice water. Five drops of Terrorade to add to the effect. How invigorating! Ice cold lather is the bomb! Not something I'll take the time to do before work but I see myself doing this on non work days throughout the summer.

Three passes for near BBS. Totally silent alum.

The Apollo Light even with the mild plate still has a good amount of blade feel and is a joy to use.

    Have a great day!
