    Soap, TSB bowl

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Ming Shi Futur Clone

    Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock (Green)

Brush: Strike Gold Shave Minion 24 mm Badger

    Lather: Loose Screw Uncomfortably Numb
Aftershave: Stirling Agar

Additional Care:

    Barbero Alum Block

Thayer's Witch Hazel - Aloe Vera

Today was the first shave with the Loose Screw soap. It’s scent profile consists of incense, oud, pepper, berries and lavender.
I love the scent profile and the glissade properties of the soap provided for a smooth, effortless and BBS shave. The soap is plain Ole Badass.

I paired it with Stirling’s Agar aftershave. It worked well. I predominately use a straight razor for about 75% of my shaves. The Gillette blade, it’s third use, still delivered a comfortably smooth shave. I using use a DE blade for 5 shaves then into the bank.

    Have a fantastic day gentlemen.

Wonderful looking shave. Eventually I will add the Fine Santal to the den. Don’t work to hard.

Look at that lather. Williams does provide a very nice lather and shave. Well done.

    SOTD WEDNESDAY MAY 6, 2020

I had intended to shave with a different razor this morning. But yesterday’s shave was so great that I felt the need to repeat! The Big Fellow is a highly efficient shaver that delivers what has turned out to be an effortless BBS. Yesterday’s soap, however, was awful for me scent-wise. I know it’s quite popular with some folks, ‘eau de lumberyard’ just doesn’t do it for me.

I really like Soap Commander ‘Honor’. Especially after adding 6 drops of M-Bomb. Following my iced water rinse, it paired beautifully with the Jayaruh Custom Silver Badger Rosewood brush to generate a thick, cooling, yogurty lather. Two and a half passes (WTG, ATG, ATG) put the baby to bed with the final half pass again just consisting of some selective face and noggin buffing. Another effortless, bloodless BBS with some very minor heat revealed with the alum block below my Adam’s Apple. I feel clean, cool, smooth and refreshed.

RAZOR: Gillette Big Fellow (1920 vintage)
    BLADE: Suneko (1)
    PREP: Iced water rinse
BRUSH: Jayaruh Rosewood Handled Silvertip Badger
SOAP: Soap Commander Honor w/ 6 drops of M-Bomb
POSTSHAVE: Iced water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Thayers Lavender WH and Fine Accoutrements Platinum AS. Finished with A&E Post-Shave Serum.

That's a nice shave Joe! I am also primarily a straight/shavette shaver, but I use DE's and SE's to mix it up. I think it's great to be able to use different types of razors.

Great shave Jeff! I don't mind using the same razor for consecutive shaves. It's retro because our dads and grandads only had one razor.

IMG_4806.jpg Switched in the MonoBilt this morning. Hadn't actually used it since Faves February. 'Mixed it up' for May by continuing to grab a seldom used blade. I have a few tucks of these Rapira Swedish Supersteels. Truth be told, I don't grab for any Rapiras very often, but do have Sharp Stars and Voskhods in bulk.
Whipped up a really nice lather. This Strop Shoppe tallow soap is excellent, their non-tallow versions not so much. Lovely scents, though. 3 passes later and I am quite smooth. I don't think these are the smoothest blades, but they did the job in the great MonoBilt. The splash let me know I had a bit of irritation, but no overt redness.
    Have a great day all!

Awesome FatBac shave! I've been having fun mixing up soaps and AS this month :D

Preparation and effort seem to be the key in just about anything a person takes one--great thoughts!

Good to hear from you again, Patrick! Glad things look to be slowing down for you--if you're getting into the dramatic stuff, you'll definitely want to be slowing things down ;)
