Awesome shave Dave! Too bad about the knot shedding. I hate it when tne bristles clog up my safeties. I cut myself very badly on the nape of my neck while headshaving because of it awhile back.

Nice pics, lineup and mayhem shave, Danny. That is truly an open blade. If you can shave with that DIY razor, then you can shave with a straight.

It is another great shave for the Colorado cowboy! The weather in NY has been yucky this weekend. Tomorrow, it should be warmer with the sun making an appearance.

    Thanks, Clint!
I had the aperture set at F32 to increase the depth of field, ISO 100 and only half the light box lit up. 2.5 second exposure. Thank goodness for my tripod and my cell phone as a remote trigger.

Thank you. A little overboard on the settings but I so rarely go overboard on anything I do.

SOTD SUNDAY MORNING, MAY 30, 2021

Having to adjust my straight shaving technique to accommodate one hand, until I regain strength in my dominant left hand. The incredible restored bone-handled Ellis and Allan giant stubtail 8/8 with its striking amber wedge cleaned up the mug stubble in three slow careful passes. My shaves are taking a lot longer since I’m limited to just my one hand. Fortunately, my 17 yr old grandson helped out with the lather generation. The two pass noggin shave with my ever-so-efficient Eclipse Red Ring completed the shave, and left your humble narrator velveteen smooth, cool and clean.

    RAZOR: Ellis & Allan 8/8
    BLADE: Sharp Star DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE LE Aluminum Handle #005 w/ SynBad Knot
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with PAA Frost Byte AS Splash.

    Razor: Taylor Eyewitness 1000
    Brush: Jack Skully
Lather: LA Shaving Soap Company Blackfern
    Aftershave: Brut
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
Thayer's Witch Hazel - Aloe Vera
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

This shave on another dreary day on LI can only be classified as EPIC! Perhaps one of the closest straight razor shaves to date. The Taylor Eyewitness 1000, received in a raffle last month using the room numbers of my father’s hospital room, will always have bring pleasant thoughts of him. Equally as import, this razor just delivers a wonderfully close shave.
I have begun to train myself to straight razor shave with one hand as I will be having shoulder replacement surgery for my right shoulder at some point late July or early August. Fortunately, I am left handed. I must say I did a damn good job. Three pass without any mishaps and Uber smoothness.

Hope you all have a great day gentlemen.

Happy Sunday Everyone. How can a razor designed to make things foolproof result in so much blood. I have not bleed this much since starting with a DE razor. After the first pass, I had blood flowing from above and below my mouth. I transferred the have blade to the Katana and finished up the shave without further issues. I think I will put the R48 aside for another long weekend. At least I smell freaking fantastic. This soap, aftershave and EdT pairing are the bomb. I hope everyone has a great Sunday and does better with their shave.
