I'm old school Rock n Roll. I have always leaned toward heavy metal, and still do. There are a lot of great bands out there, Zepplin, Sabbath, Priest, Megadeath, etc. BUT my all time favorite album ever is Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix. In fact, I still have my original double album, complete with adhesive tape on the spine of the cover to hold it together. I cannot remember how many times I have listened to it ( herbal meds will do that to ya sometimes). Of course I don't own a turntable any more, but I will keep my album until the time comes to will it to one of my sons or grand kids, much like my razors.
I have my copy on vinyl from '72 as well. The first show I saw was Tales of Topographic Oceans. My favorite show was the 70 Tormato in the round.
I'm sure that people said the same thing about Miles Davis' Bitches Brew back in 1970. Difference is they were right. I'm sorry bro, but this is a train wreck. I love Lou all the way back to the VU days, and I was a fan of Metallica through ...And Justice For All. Individually great, together? Not so sure. It moved you, so I'll give it a few more listens, but I'm not feeling it.
