It was a bit of a balancing act. I had to snap the pic quick.

Your ladies did a great job organizing that shaving display for you. It's on a really elegant wall unit too.

Glad everything arrived undented and uncrushed and also that the Higher Authorities in the household approve of the scent of those creams I tossed in. Your Gillette Tech looks like it's in great shape btw.

Not really a mayhem shave but after a 5 day growth figured I’d use one of my favorite razors

Homemade pain stick - and with a Dorco blade. Impressive! I will say that the Dorcos have worked fairly well for me, they just don't last like the Feather or Kai blades do. That's an awesome MAYhem setup there. Worth seeing before taking off for a few days!

Oops! I did it again. Two for the win. One of the better shaves this month. Spent another day in the sun Out on the prairie p, and even jammed on my bass for a while. Other than that... all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a terrific Thursday!

    SharptoothC I bite..........

I saw that and kind of wanted to see for myself, as they look identical. I have had no rust issue with the Pacific. None on the Assured yet either. My Pacific just seems a little bit more tightly put together, though with a little adjusting the Assured holds a blade tightly enough as well. I may have just gotten lucky because other pics of the Assured had some pretty crazy alignment issues. All told, for $1 I'm not complaining. But the $3 I spent on my Fatboy was a better investment.

    MAYhem 2018!!!!!

    May 9

    Razor - Soyuz 1
    Blade - rapira-super-stainless.jpg (3)
Soap - "Start" Russian Shave Cream
    Brush - Chernobyl Special
    Post- Alum

Well, let's start with the head shave. Thirteen days since the last one so that requires a pain stick. I used the Kai Captain with the Captain Original blade. Arko and VDH Boar for the lather and it started out very well. Smooth, no issues, taking my time, getting it done - holding my left ear out of the way with my right hand as I worked in behind it with my left hand. And, for some reason, I decided it would be a good idea to angle the razor to get in closer. Now, that wouldn't be a problem as long as my stroke matched the direction of the full blade. I decided to try some sort of messed up Gillette Slide with the Kai and, well, you can probably guess the result. One very nice cut right behind my left ear. I didn't even look at that point. Just took the pain, assumed there was blood running and finished that section. Grabbed the mirror to do the back of my head and checked it out. Not as bloody as I thought but impressive nevertheless. I finished the rest of the head shave without incident. Note to self - when using pain stick in weak hand, behind ear, working blind, do NOT try any kind of slide. Idiot.

As for the regular shave I decided to try another Russian cream, only to discover that everything I was told was a shave cream is really an aftershave cream, except for the Start. So, I used it along with the amazingly well crafted Chernobyl Special brush (as it has been named now) along with the soyuz 1 and Rapira blade. The cream actually performs very well, even with this brush. I'm going to use a better brush with it at some point and see just how good it can be!

No issues with this one. Fine DFS finish on two passes and touch up, great face feel, and I'm a happy camper.

Well boys and girls, at some point tomorrow morning we'll be headed west to the middle of Missouri. Not sure if I'll have any kind of cell service, but sure there won't be wi-fi. So, if I can post up a few pics of what's up I will, just to keep my nose in. If not, then I leave this thread in your capable hands. I expect to be overwhelmingly behind when I rejoin civilization on Sunday afternoon. I'll try not to have too many withdrawal symptoms from this place. And, next week there will be news of the meet up and we'll be ready to move forward to getting together in July!! Have a great few days!!

Three dollars for a Fatboy - are you crazy?!?! Why overspend for that thing when you can get three Pacifics or Assureds for the same money?!
