Roc...3 year old American Bulldog. Freakin' amazing dog. Extremely smart, well behaved, and has tons of character. Him playing in the snow from this most recent winter He's gained about 20-25lbs. since these photos...
Nikon D3000. And I usually use the 55-200mm lens to get longer distances. Here are a few more action shots.
My son and our pointing lab, Kody, pheasant hunting in South Dakota last year: A better shot of Kody:
In South Dakota there's a mix of wild and tame, though on land we hunt it's mostly wild. There are a several of hunting "preserves" in the area which release tame birds. Inevitably, some of those get on our farm and my cousins' farms. You can tell wild from tame by looking at the beak. The tame birds have a hole drilled through their beak so they can put blinders on them. Here's one from 2008, when Kody was jut a pup of 8 month old. This shot won a photo contest that South Dakota Dept of Tourism was running. He was one tired pup!
Another great photo. There is a big difference between a late season spooky wild pheasant and a preserve bird where you more or less have to kick it in the butt to leave the ground. It's just kind of tough to get excited about preserve birds after a while. Last weekend, we were discussing a trip for prairie chickens. My friend's Brittany is just coming into his own and becoming a good bird dog.
This is our dog Dracula.....we got him when he was 11 weeks old from an animal shelter....the first pic was a few days after we got him back in August of 2011.....he was a little hellion lol...the second pic is a recent pic from this past christmas.....yes my wife gave him a stocking even....the dog had more presents to play with then me and my wife did combined lol......in the almost 8 months we have had him....he has shot up to over 65 pounds....he eats like a horse and drinks like a freakin camel lol....hes a good dog and is really smart...he can usually learn new tricks in about 10 minutes.....however I am quite convinced he is part beaver....this dog LOVES to chew on wood....especially my wood pile of hickory and pecan wood that I use to BBQ with....oh and he likes to chew on our house trim lol...he has a BUNCH of toys but never pays them any attention when we leave him alone...thats when he goes for the good stuff lol.....but we love him no matter how destructive he is lol
Great shots. Living in an apartment is not fair to a dog. I do miss having one. My last dog was Basset.
LOL yea we didnt even have the heart to pop him on his butt with the news paper like we usually did when we were training him....I was cooking as he was doing this...I thought he was dragging around one of his hard plastic toys the whole time lol...he faked me out.
I know there has to be as many pet owners on here...so I thought I would share my four legged kids....please share yours, as I love to see other's "kids" My little man, Steward Reginald Canterbury, or Stewie for short. He is truly MY cat, has nothing to do with my wife. He follows me around like a puppy and sleeps on my chest. He is a Zot, an Exotic Shorthair...think of them as a Persian with short hair, but with a more solid body. Miss Lulu Bella...my 3lb 4 oz little monster Teacup Yorkie. She is the sweetest little thing when she is not terrorizing the kittehs, neighbors dogs or bathroom trash can. Mr. Boo. At 22lbs he is a BIG cat and very strong. Since the death of his best friend, our Pekingese, Precious, Boo now hides 80% of the time. So sad, as he is very loving. Smokey Bear...the most chill cat I have ever owned. At 13 he now spends most of his day sleeping, but he is a very loving little guy.
