Saw this thread and I just have to revive it... Here's Isaac or "Ike" as we call him. He's a bit large for a Golden Retriever but, he's so sweet.
This is Lemon (calico) [she's sour like a lemon] Nermile > Gray Oreo > kinda self explanatory They are very much our fur babies.
My Lola, a pure-bred fawn Great Dane, who turns 3 years old next week…sweetest dog I've ever had... 130lbs of couch-potato...
I'm loving seeing everybody's critter family. Keep em' coming. So, here's another pic and a bit more background. Ike used to way 106 lbs and is now down to 98. We found out after some testing that he has both a thyroid condition as well as allergies. Here's a baby picture of him. This one is recent. Notice the resemblance? Still loves nap time with his stuffies! And here's one that I use for an avatar sometimes.
She's beautiful Kevin. Looks like a sweetie! Hey Ryan, I've always wanted a chocolate lab. My parents got a golden puppy a week or so before I was born (a month premature) and we've had them ever since. I'll probably always have goldens because I know the breed so well but I'll always have a thing for chocolates too... Caesar looks like a good boy...
He's actually half pit. His mom is a chocolate lab and his dad is an American Pit Terrier. He's such a nice guy. He's 10 months old and weighs 65 lbs. He's still a pup and acts like it. He listens well for the most part. He's as strong as an ox too. Pits get a bad rap. My family was kind of worried when they found out he was half pit, but he blew them away with his good behavior and playful attitude.
You guys are getting me all teary-eyed with the Golden Retriever pictures; I lost Oliver (our Golden) on 3/11/10, and I still miss him every day. Here are the 2 guys that let us live in their house now, P-Diddy (black Bombay) and Lucy Bob (Tabby Point Siamese):
Penelope @ 8 yrs. She's very gentle and gets along fine with our cats. Just don't make the mistake of getting out of your car in our driveway without someone outside to greet you.
Quest - 13+ yr old Gordon Setter. The best of the best in bird hunting dogs. Master of pheasants and a decent grouse hunting dog. MY BEST BUDDY! Nitro - 2 yr old Vizsla Nitro shows great promise. He has more natural talent than Quest. Will he put it all together? I think he will be a better grouse dog and an average pheasant dog. I can live with that.
Ryan, I agree that pits get a bad rap. I know that it's all in the owner though. Your guy looks like an awesome boy. I'll bet he's fun to play with too. Dapper, what do you mean? Getting the thread going again? It's just fun to see and talk about each other's pets. Hey Sontag, you don't have another yet? I can't go without a Golden for long. When we had to put our last one to sleep because of cancer we waited about a year and couldn't stand it any longer. They just make such good family members... I miss Zach too! I've had three in my lifetime and I hope/think that I'll always have one. Bristle, she's pretty. Do you take her hunting? I can't help but ask because of the backdrop of the picture. She looks like she's hunting, she has that perked up focus in her eye. And Al, I'm with you. You have too very nice dogs there. I've always been intrigued with Vizslas, they look like they would make great hunting partners and family members. Ike hasn't had the pleasure of going hunting with me. I lost my hunting land and my granddad (hunting buddy) soon after we got him. Since he has lots of allergies it would be tough for me to justify having him outside that much. He has all the natural talent though. Most people don't know that their are two types/classes of Goldens. There's a working and a show class and Ike is from the working class. I would rather have them because they seem to have shorter feathers which helps with grooming. They definitely possess a healthy instinct to hunt and retrieve. The "soft" mouth is great when we wrestle too...
jbooth- people are starting to come around to pits now. It's kind of like how Rotties, Dobermans, and GSD's were demonized in previous decades. Penelope, the toy poodle is my girlfriend's dog. She bullies Caesar and plays with him and he actually takes it easy with her.
Here's my best friend "Elliott". He's a Silver Abyssinian. His favorite past times, when he's not napping, are taking showers and swimming in the bath tub.
