This is my boy Willow in the Shave Den...he's been with me for over 14yrs now and is a true companion, he always knows my moods.
Can't believe I didn't see this thread until now. Here's my basset hound Mugsy: And my other basset hound, Bo: And sweet old Sylvie, a walker hound who passed on at 15 about a year and a half ago:
Here's my Boy Oscar the Bedlington Terrier at various stages of his development, he's now aged 20 months old and such a lovely dog. If you are wondering what Oscars looking at he's looking at the Bee feeding on the French lavender.
Tough weekend here. Bo, the black and tan basset in my post above, bit my 3-year-old on Friday. I was right there, so I know she wasn't provoking him, just petting him. He's a weird dog, sometimes just doesn't want to be petted, but that's tough for a little squirt to understand. My daughter is fine, just a scratch, but it's on her face and half an inch higher and we'd be talking about an eye injury. We've decided to give Bo up, he's going back to the rescue agency we got him from today or tomorrow. Despite the bite, we are all very attached to him. Going to be tough to see him go.
A normal dog will show warning signals- eye aversion (showing eye whites) etc before biting. Furthermore a lot of rescue/shelter dogs have problems- that's why a lot of them end up there. And with a dog of unknown breeding you're taking a further risk. It is a myth that "it's how you train them." Slightly maybe. Some dog's will never bite despite how abused or ill "trained" they are. My family went with the reputable breeder route. Very pricey but it was a sure bet especially considering a small child in the family. You never know what you're getting with mutts or "purebred" dogs that are bred indiscriminately by inexperienced ignorant owners.
What a cutie! Here's my little Emma. She doesn't like me to get out of her sight. She likes to watch me shave
No dog is better then my little girl..... She's the best dog in the world and everyone knows that it's wubueros
New addition to the family. During the course of raising three kids we had the normal cats and dogs, fish, parakeets and finches, turtles and lizards. Our last two dogs passed about 5 years ago and we've never replaced, since I initiated a no pet replacment policy. About 4 months ago my wife pulled up in the driveway and right there standing in the middle was a frazzled looking parakeet. It was in real bad shape. The wife nursed it back to health. So now, in violation of my policy, we have a healthy and sassy (lucky) parakeet.
