Here's Sam. Rescued 8 years ago. He's a great guy (well, was a guy :ashamed001 ). Not sure of his mix - everyone seems to have a different opinion. Doesn't matter, though. He's just a great dog.

Here is my Max, picked up from an animal rescue. He's a mutt. I have no idea what breeds are in his blood. He's very mellow, but a great protector from the other side of the door.:happy001

Faith is about 15 years old. We got her after she was run over by a hit and run driver in front of our church. We nursed her back to health and she has been with us ever since.

She is now so old that she is practically deaf and is going blind.

Here's my pup, Charlie. She's about 12 and doesn't hear well either. I love her though. :)

Only two Rottweilers... but that's because my wife won't let me have any more... I'd like a few more :D

They are gorgeous dogs, Johan! :love029

Am I just imagining or is there a bit of favoritism towards Tasha? ;)

    Thanks!

Yes, Tasha is "my" dog and Lewis is my wifes dog. I have trained Tasha to be a Search and Rescue dog so that builds a special bond. I do love Lewis very much too, but Tasha is #1 for me, she would get away with anything! :p And my wife tells me I let her do that too ;)

These snails are neat, but in the United States they are illegal for their potential as an invasive species.

Okay, 4 or our 5 kitties.

Onyx, the oldest at 14. A feral kitten we adopted. He came to us after some abuse and a $100 vet bill. Onyx loves kitty treats and is more than willing to sit and beg for them.

Next in line is Zippo. Named after the brand of lighter by my daughter. He came to us after our 1st kitty Tyler passed away at 16. Zippo is like 8 years old by now. A really laid back kitty who loves to be petted. He is my bed buddy at night.

Third, is Scooter. I can say about my bride that she feeds anything that walks, runs, or flies across our back yard. And that includes feral cats. Scooter was the runt of a litter of 3 kitties presented to us by a beautiful tuxedo female. (More on her later). We took Scooter in as soon as he was weaned. Notice his paws. Scooter is polydactyl, he has a extra toe on his paws. He is my bride's bed buddy.

Fourth is TizzyLish. She is Scooter's twin sister. Like her brother she is polydactyl. But she is much more feral due to a longer time in the wild. She came to us after a reaction to the anesthetic given her when she was spayed through a TNR program we volunteer for. We kept her inside until she could walk right and also take some food. About 5 days. We came to lover he sooo much we just kept her. She is adjusting to being a pet rather than a feral. Very soft to hold and pet. Loves to chase the red light from a laser pointer. She and Scooter are 3 years old.

Last is the mother of the twins Scooter & TizzyLish. We call her Esmeralda. Like TizzyLish she has the long hair but unlike the twins she is not polydactyl. A true feral she shys away from everyone but my wife who feeds her at meal time. Came into the house about a year ago in the very cold and just won't go back out. Hard to say how old she is but we figure at least 5.

    Okay, since you asked!

I especially loved Johan's Rottweilers and Bryce's Cats...

There are just so many animals here at our home/Wildlife Rehabilitation Center that it's too hard to pick a few to post...BUT:

The local NBC TV News crew was here this weekend and shot this video for a story on our plans to open a NEW facility...to include access to our "permanent residents/education and foster parenting animals" for the public and a training center for future wildlife rehabilitators!

The cat in the newsclip is Windigo, our Canadian Lynx. Sometimes it's hard to judge size to scale, but be advised she is 35 pounds and I am 195 pounds, 6 foot tall. You can get an idea of how big she really is in the video with me!

You'll also see a Bald Eagle, our Turkey Vulture "Hannibal," our Great Horned Owl "Gabriel," and a hawk, I believe.

Here's the link to the story and video...

We were also in the local newspaper on Sunday, but they have not yet posted the pictures in their online "Photo Gallery." When (and if) they do, I will post again here with a link!

Hope you enjoy this and please keep us in your thoughts as we take on this huge project!
We are facing the main obstacle of raising LOTS of funds for construction ($1 to $2 million).
