OK, so here's the thing. I love the cooling of menthol, but not such a fan of the scent or the eye watering. This document discusses various compounds created in the '70's by Wilkinson Sword, as alternatives to menthol. I called one of the companies, that makes this stuff called ICE-1500, and they only sell it in 20kg drums for $150/kg. :happy102 So I guess that was not the write dude to write to. Anybody out there come up with a viable TRPM8 receptor agonist that comes in handy little ounce bottles? Chemists?
I'm no chemist so I can't help directly with your question regarding that compound. But what about peppermint oil as an alternative to menthol?
Peppermint oil should be easily available and it cools significantly. If you doubt me, order some connaught peppermint cream (order if you believe me also).
Like everyone else says. Peppermint is great! TOM is a great cream that really gives a nice cooling effect. JoAnna can also make you a peppermint AS w/o menthol which I bet would be very nice
