I guess I should clarify my meaning that PlastiDip is more of a permanent fix than the slip-on pen pad or rubber washers; yes, it (the coating) can be removed should one decide they miss the total chrome look. :happy088:

Gotcha! I misunderstood your original message. You could always use painters tape to tape off a design before you dip. After it dries, you peel off the tape to reveal your design.

I may just do this (taping) to ensure a clean top edge. I've some dipping to do later this week. ;)

Looks like anything below the headlights could feel a curb!

I should explain, where I live, a car that low would not survive a trip to the corner store. In summer. Forget about winter.

I don't think the dipped Merkur looks *that* bad, but I do appreciate the comparison. Also, I didn't know you could even get those for a GTO.

I keep coming back to this thread. Now I'm wondering about braided tubing that would fit snugly; to slide it off you'd contract it like a finger trap. Under that, heat shrink tubing would protect the razor's finish and provide grip for the heat shrink tubing.

Having said all that, I would rather do a proof of concept on another handle or metal rod, or something. Those Merkurs are too purty to mess up.
