The Merkur HD which I bought for my Father a few years ago has broken. I think the thread inside has gone. It nearly gave him a nasty cut. I thought the HD would last a lifetime but clearly not. I've let him borrow my nice Gillette Slim handled English Tech for the time being. Perhaps I should just give it to him. I still have a Gillette slim adjustable 1964 which I intend giving to my son when he's older. I'm using an Ever Ready 1912 single edge.
These things happened to vintage razors as well. Granted, you don't know how long it took to happen. I just assembled a Clix razor and found the center threads were stripped and useless. There is an old single ring in the grab box that has stripped threads as well. I also have a tech with ruined threads.
