This little razor has a excellent chrome coating and is built to last generations. Had a close comfortable shave this morning. Blade :Gem Personna SS PTFE (4) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle. Soap : TOBS Sandalwood- nice herbal scented sandal wood 6-7/10 with excellent lather qualities. Brush : Yaqi "Moka express" 26mm 2band badgers. Excellent lather generator, pillow like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + great lather painter. My first badger ever bought and still going strong. Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area. Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups. Post shave : Ogallala Bayrum with Sandalwood + a dollop of Geo F Trumper Sandalwood skin food moisturizer. SE SOTD, November 9th 2023 Razor : Gem 1912 baton handle. Mfg 1943 variant, well made and designed to last generations. Had a close comfortable shave this morning. Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE (6) very sharp, great longevity, smooths out nicely + safest blade to handle. Soap : Gillette Pure cream, nice scented soap + excellent lather qualities. Brush : Yaqi "Bali" 24 mm 3band badger. Excellent lather generator, luxury soft tips, nice splay scrubber + great lather painter. A bit of a lather hog with the large bloom. Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area. Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups. Post shave : Pinaud Clubman+ a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless). This Micromatic is a nice mid range shave and have had many close comfortable shaves like this one this morning. Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE coated (7) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle. Soap : Razorock Irish Countryside, nice scented soap(Irish Creed) + excellent lather qualities. Brush : Yaqi "Rainbow) 26mm brown whiskers synthetic. MMMonday , November 20th 2023 Razor : MicroMatic OC (button less base plate type)- Mfg 1930-2,V2,1932-41, mid to mid aggressive range with regular newer blades. Built to last for many generations and was the first mass produced TTO in the world, about 4-5 years ahead of Gillette's TTO. Used a spent spine from a old blade to shim the new blade shim (RIGS). Had a close comfortable shave this morning. Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(8) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle. Soap : Razorock XXX Fresco, nice clean unique clean scent with excellent lather qualities. Brush : Yaqi " Aqua" 24mm 3band high mountain badger. Excellent lather generator, pillow like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + great lather painter. First badger ever owned, a bit of a slightly brickly at first until used a enough times to make it softer, but great to work the face. It is a different species of badger I believe by its fur coloring. Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area. Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups. MMMonday + daily double , November 27 2023 Razor : (L) Ever-Ready Streamline SE, 2nd generation , Mfg 1949-53, mid upper range. well made to last generations, this razor seems to like a slight Steep angle & a RIGS shim to smooth it out. I like to use it when blade count gets higher to take advantage of its blade feel. Had a close comfortable shave this morning. Razor : (R)Yaqi Romulus 316 SSP with a Yaqi Chippendale SSP handle 4th use, Mfg 2023>, mild to tame mid range. Small head parts make for a nimble shave, clamping is great and uses my Schick proline blades. Machining and finish are excellent and happy using my favorite standard Schick P30 blades. The razor will give a BBS with it even being on the milder side. Had a close comfortable shave this morning. Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE blade (9) very sharp, great longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle. Blade : Schick Proline p30 (2)- sharp and smooth with reasonable longevity. One of favorite AC type blades Soap :Speick stick- nice mild spicy scented soap with excellent lather qualities. Excellent hard soap(triple milled). Brush : Yaqi " Barber pole" 24 mm 2 band badger. Excellent lather generator, pillow like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + great lather painter. Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area. Nice razor that takes a few tries to dial in I found when first purchased has been my experience. Blade use count is getting up there so it is close to a tie IMO.
