I’m calling the W&B complete... partially because it wore me out. After not looking at it for a week, I pulled the scales out and I actually liked the look, so just continued to polish. I went with camel bone for the wedge and pinned it with reproduction brass domed washers - I really like the quality of these! Once pinned I hit the blade face one more time- 400 grit running parallel to the edge and finished with about 45 minutes of 600 going perpendicular to the edge. So here it was when I got it: And now, all cleaned up and with new shoes: And And the backside I continued to learn a lot with this one. 2 down & 1 to go. Enjoy your projects. Tom.
Thank you Randy - I appreciate it. I am done with the CA glue applications for the Clauss, and now up through 800 grit sanding... I think the Copper is really starting to show up. And l’ve completed the weirdly shaped wedge.
I’m pretty pumped at how the Clauss scales are coming out! Went from 800 to 1000 to 1500 to 2000, then TurtleWax rubbing compound, followed by a couple rounds of Flitz and Renn Wax. The copper is finally showing through the carbon black and has a cool effect. Hopefully get a chance to put this all together tomorrow. Tom
Put together the Clauss. I went with the NiAg rod and washers. Then tap, tap, tappy... Horrible at taking pictures and these scales change so much with the different lighting. And the “Family Photo” Now to get these last two honed up and in the ever growing rotation! Enjoy your projects and thanks for reading. Tom
Thank you! I am happy how the shape and color came out. I think the shape of the scale adds an aggressive touch to the round point.
Great Job Tom! Those SR's look great and you are cranking out some killer scales with a quickness! Man I need to get working on some scales... John
