:happy096: That has happened to me. Even more so with the Feather Super Pro blades.

  2. My Mongoose has already arrived at my local post office. Too bad tomorrow is a Sunday, so... no delivery.

I'll have 4 days worth of growth to test the goose out on Monday. I expect my Pro blades to work just as nice as they work in my shavette and in my injector. While I'm very happy with the Pro blades, I'm planning to try out the Pro Super blade and Captain "SharpBlade". I cannot locate any "SharpBlade" right now(http://www.kai-group.com/global/en/biz/beautycare_shaving_captainsharpblade.html). I'm also curious about Captain Mild blade. Perhaps dual coating helps with blade longevity.

In my experience the Kai Mild falls off pretty quickly.

  4. i have a question for people who own both the satin and the polished version. Does one glide better over the face? I read somewhere that the satin feels tuggy and doesn't provide a good glide like the polished version does. I've also heard the opposite where a few people mentioned that the satin finish feels smoother.

I have both satin and polished heads and I have detected no difference between the two. The polished head shows more scratches.

I think a couple of things beyond the finish come into play as well. First, if you feel the head is not gliding properly drop the handle just a bit to alter the angle. Second, I've found the Mongoose performs best with a very slick lather that is just a touch thinner than you would normally use.

Looks like tomorrow is going to be the delivery date instead of today. Mail came, no razor. Hung up at the hub, only 40 miles away.

  8. My razor came. Razor head has a deep etched scratch. and handle has numerous scratches and few small dings. Not from machining but from poor handling. Sent an email to Mongoose with pics.

Edit: Got an email from Mongoose to ship it back. They will be sending me new razor whenever new batch comes.

Seems like I'll still have to wait.

Sorry, that really sucks. Same thing happened to me - see photos of how mine looked like here. Does yours look similar?
In the end, w/in a week actually, I had a new, flawless razor though.
I can't help but to think that their QA is becoming a bit spotty..maybe they're victim of their own success.

  10. Yes my handle looks a lot like yours. But the head isn't as bad as your pic. Just a deep scratch resulted from apparent poor handling

Hopefully mine will be in good condition when it arrives. Seems to be stuck in Portland. Will post the findings.

  13. That's very unfortunate. Don't they inspect each razor before they ship them? I never hear any cosmetic problems with ATT, Feather etc... They're always in perfect condition. It's a pain to ship it back and then wait another week for a razor in good condition.

Sorry about that. I just sent a PIF to one of our members here and he said when he got it, the box had tire tracks on it and looked like it had been used for batting practice. 'Tis the season.

that's a big difference, is that good or bad?
the polished one weighs as much as some whole razors.

This MR20 handle from Maggards works well for me and is $20. To compare the "ginger swirl" is 88 gr the MR20 is 53gr. image.jpeg image.jpeg
