What they need to be reminded of it is not a privilege to own one of these razors.... It is a privilege to have people who want to buy them....
Here is a pic of the back of the Mongoose head for those interested in seeing what it should look like
One of the artist club blades that fits the Mongoose is called kamisori, made in Canada. I haven't heard much about it.
I sent them and email Tuesday asking more questions. They have not replied since Tuesday. Mongoose customer service is slowwww and sloppy and QC is non-existent. I won't be surprised if my returned razors will be sold as new after some repair. The first razor's top and bottom plates didn't even line up evenly. After putting blade in, the blade's edge didn't line up with safety bar. I feel bad for whoever that razor ends up with.
Unfortunately, very few businesses realize this. My guess is Mongoose will enjoy this popularity until new razors from Falcon and Cobra and hopefully from some others in future may become more readily available in next 1 year or so. After that, with this level of sloppiness and bad customer service, they may not stand as successful as right now. In fact some people who have tried the Falcon prototype have said it is even better than Mongoose. It's tough to say if Falcon razors will be available in near future or never but still I have decided if the next razor is in bad shape, or is not shipped in 2 weeks, I will ask for refund for good and never ever do business with Mongoose again. Because while waiting for my replacement, I should have been the first to get my razor. BUT, I've seen on 2 other forums that people received their razor 5-6 days before me, even when I have paid 1 month ago. I am sending them another email if I don't hear anything from them soon.
They restore them cosmetically. I have not seen or heard them selling "seconds" or "defective" so perhaps they sell them as new. Who knows.
I don't believe those blades are made in japan like feather or kai. the company seems to be in canada. maybe they just decided to call their own brand of blades "kamirori". because true japanese kamisori is a type of razor not blade. but thanks for posting the link clint64.
They are Canadian blades and late to the party since Kai and Feather are the established brands. I have not read of anyone that tried them and preferred them to Kai or Feather. YMMV
That sucks. ATT and Ikon both sell seconds or blemished items for less money on their sites under a separate category and they don't sell something that's been refurbished or returned as new. that's very unfortunate in your case. because when someone is paying full price and buying directly from the vendor, they should be assured that the product they're going to receive is a new and never been used/refurbished product and that goes for any company.
Ikon...oh Ikon. I personally don't like any razor made by Ikon but my cousin has bought direct from Ikon twice. The owner Greg is very rude and denied exchange when my cousin had received a razor that was defective. Greg straight up denied exchange or refund and claimed that it is normal razor. Talk about $125 down the drain. There are number of horror stories about Ikon everywhere. I do not recommend Ikon to anyone. I would still rate Mongoose better than Ikon. Mongoose accepts their faults and tries to make their customer happy. They are horrible at responding emails on time though. 5 days and no reply to my question about when will they ship my replacement.
Greg at iKon has a....colorful..reputation as far as attitude goes Having said that, I do really like my iKon B1:
I've never had any problem with ikon razors. Bought one last year under 'blemished' but couldn't find any blemish. it was perfect. I don't care much about customer service as long as they send out a perfect product. usually companies that make a lot of mistakes have great customer service.
