They are sharp as all get out. I had a few weepers after I finished up. Typical for my face with a feather blade. Very very smooth

I can't do it with a well worn Feather Pro but with a new one, it's my normal way using the Mongoose. One of those YMMV things.

I know how sharp a new feather Pro blade is. I wouldnt be surprised if it removed almost everything in its path

Hi there, I am new to this forum and not a mongoose owner yet and am interested to know about what was wrong with your two defective mongoose razors. Are these issues common?

You have been quite unlucky to date with mongoose, I really hope your new razor is absolutely perfect...as it should have been in the first place. Good luck.

My satin finish stainless steel Mongoose arrived a couple of weeks ago, one of the last to be shipped directly from Mongoose, and I've been getting acquainted with it. While I've accumulated a hundred or so vintage single edge razors, this is my first modern razor.

My first impression was that this is one humongous razor, both in size and weight (just under 5 oz). I spent the first week using a Feather Pro blade, enjoying some great shaves. I found the correct shaving angle to be quite intuitive. I decided that the stock handle was too long for my tastes and replaced it with a Maggard Razors MR3 solid stainless steel handle.

Next I tried a Feather Super Pro. This blade does an outstanding job of removing whiskers. It also does a pretty good job of removing skin cells, leaving me with quite a bit of irritation and more weepers than I've seen in a while.

The last couple of days I've been using a Kai Titan Mild in order to let my face recover a bit. These blades don't seem to get a lot of love on the forums, but I find them to be smooth shavers, not quite as close as the Feather Pros but much more forgiving. My shaves with the Kais have been smooth and irritation-free, if not quite BBS. Right now it appears that the Feather Pros will be my main blade.

Just ordered a 20 pack of the Feather pro super.

I have been getting nice shaves with the Feather pro. But only getting 5 shaves per blade.

These blades might be better for my tough facial hair. We'll see

Glad you are getting the hang of it. Be sure to use a real light touch with the Feather Pro Super blades in the AlumiGoose. Those blades certainly are certainly a step up.

The Super Pro is both deeper and thicker which increases the blade exposure and blade gap. So it is a step up in how aggressive the razor shaves.
